   Should guns, concealed weapons be allowed in school campuses?
   
   Some students argue that since there is an increasing violence in school, to protect themselves they should be allowed to have concealed weapons in school campuses?  There are also lawmakers who are pushing for this.
   
   What is your take on this issue?

   well let me preface by saying I am pro guns and I open carry relatively regularly. Having said that, no way should kids be allowed to carry guns, let alone concealed weapons, let alone in school. Schools are crowded and filled with young people, combine that with an age of notable emotional instability, relatively inexperienced shooters and you have a recipe for tragedy especially in the sense of accidental killings.

      The case of a student, 17 years old  who was bullied and shoot some students in the school cafeteria. He got the gun from his house owned by a family member. Do you think if they are taught how to become stable emotionally, it will be allowed?

   They are allowed on college campus' in Texas now. So far, we have not had an issue with the new law. However, college students are normally more advanced emotionally and physically in the development level. Too many students are uneven and easily emotionally motivated.

      with hundreds of thousands of young people legally carrying then you should be able to point to tens of thousands of uneven and emotional shootings that they do... but it can't be done...  because they don't.

      I'm saying high school students are not entirely emotionally prepared. A few have shot themselves at home being bipolar.

      Please note that the recent Texas example that Ralph gave involved a 19 year old who is too young to carry CCW in Texas and was carrying illegally. Therefore his example has as much relevance to CCW and college as the price of rice in China.

   Absolutely not, there has to be an end to the paranoid lunacy somewhere.  Armed guards perhaps, metal detectors or whatever, but no - students on campuses should not be armed.  Young people are not always the most rational and are often over emotional.  Conceal carry laws make me nervous as it is, but to involve students on campuses would be absolute stupidity.

      I went to So. Ill, Univ. with 3,600 acres and 25 separate buildings with multiple entrances. How many gates and guards do you think it will take? And any shooter can take out a guard in one second. Why not? -- if he is already going to murder.

      I would hate to spend my life living in that much fear and paranoia.  If the gunman can take out the armed guard, what stops him from doing the same to you? = carrying a gun gives a false sense of safety and not everyone is a responsible gun owner.

      Christin... the operative word is "concealed". Just how do you think the shooter is going to know who has the gun to "take out"? And BTW, if you carry a spare tire in your trunk does that also make you paranoid... or just prepared for what may come?

      people don't run around killing each other with a spare tire.  Your odds of getting a flat are a lot greater than that of running into a psycho with a gun shooting at you.  Let's be reasonable.

      I've never had a flat in 45 years of driving but I have protected my life with my concealed handgun. It's never about the "odds" but is about the value of what you are betting on. Me and my family are of infinite value. How about yours?

      yes we are, that's why we stay away from places with people carrying guns.  All we need is a vigilante to "miss" his target and hit a child.  You really want inexperienced shooters carrying guns around... amazing.

      I am glad life gives you guarantees. Most of us don't have that option. Millions of CCW holders in dozens of states over decades and you should be able to point to 100,000 dead people they've killed. or 10,000, or a 1,000. But you can't.  Amazing.

   Guns should not be allowed in schools, college campuses, establishments where alcohol is served, government buildings, public parks or workplaces.

      Of course, in reality, Ralph cannot point to any reason other than emotional response as to why CCW holders shouldn't carry in these places. Most states allow carry in all or most of these places and guess what... there are no bodies laying around.
