Do you ever just feel like crying or screaming? Do you suppress the urge, or yield to it?

I sometimes feel like crying and I find it very liberating, so I just go for it, so long as I'm alone (I hate for people to see me crying). I know I'll feel better afterwards, so why hold it in?

No, never I am always calm and under control.  I have no emotion. wink ... Seriously though, crying and screaming are two completely different reactions to stress. Crying is often a biological necessity, like going to the bathroom. It needs to happen for your body to purge certain chemicals ... it may be necessary to wait to cry  in private, but harm can result from suppressing tears for too long.

Screaming, on the other hand, can be a sign of lack of self control, which is a different matter entirely. (Sometimes a yell, or a scream can be an involuntary reaction to a sudden unexpected hurt or threat ...  which is a different issue.) It may release tension in you, but only at the cost of giving it to everyone in ear shot.   Now, we all have our breaking points, and for someone who normally has a lot of self control to scream ... well that may be indicative that something needs to change in the environment.  But that person will feel very bad afterword, because they will see it as a failure on their part.

I do feel that way - way too often anymore.  But when I am around anyone, no I suppress it.  If I am home alone, and some little thing happens that frustrates me - I might just cut loose, scream, cry, throw something--releasing all that pressure.

When my husband gets home, everything is back to normal -only the dogs know the truth and if they ever learn to talk.....

If I hurt myself while I'm at home, I immediately let the sounds out that my body wants to make. This alarms my husband, and he stands over me asking me "What happened? What happened?" (which is very frustrating when you can't answer because you're in pain). I explained to him that I've learned from doing this often enough that my pain recedes A LOT faster than it does if I can't express myself in the moment. It seems to be instantly healing on a physical level.

This is fairly radical and sufficiently wierd;   maybe I'll try this.
