You can read my hub title "Treatment for Indigestion to Relief Painful Heartburn". I wrote about treatments for indigestion that you can do it at home and make it as your new lifestyle. What you need to do is avoid junk food and consume high fiber food, avoid milk, coffee, and alcohol, stop smoking, and do exercise  regularly. I hope my article will help you. Thank you

Ginger root added to food and drink (moderately) and peppermint tums or store brands (is also great for nausea) are both great quick heartburn helpers. Ginger root on a regular bases will rid you of heartburn. Ginger root can be frozen and small amounts grated into food or drinks to get the freshest and best and costs so little this way.

    Ginger root helps, yes.

I may add my 2 cents from a personal experience - a glass of cold water will dissolve part of the acids and will help the burning sensation.

2 teaspoons of baking soda (sodium bi-carbonate) dissolved in water will also help. The soda will neutralize the acids inside the stomach. But remember - this need to be taken with moderation - Only if nothing else helps.

Chilled milk or low fat ice cream  helps. Taking light, easily digestible food is a good idea, when the problem occurs. You can also take coconut water.

My prefered method to help heartburn is mustard. I recently found out about mustard a couple months ago, but it works really good. I have tried many other ways, but none seem to help as much as mustard. Even over the counter antacids seem to take longer to work.

I have a hub with alternative ways to get rid of heartburn, you may want to check it out. http://billsplace.hubpages.com/hub/Dont … t-antacids
