Is it wise to make a 'Bucket List'

Most of us have probably  seen the Film 'The Bucket List' but is it wise to make one of your own, knowing that you might never cross off all the "to do's".

I think a bucket list is a great idea for putting down on paper everything you would like to see and do before you die.
They say that writing it down and imagining what you want to do is the first step to actually doing it.
Besides, once you check off your items on your list you feel a sense of accomplishment.

Yes, or at the very least it's a good idea.  Even if you don't cross off all the "to do's" it gives you something to work for, and as mentioned in another answer, achieving goals gives you a great sense of accomplishment.

And in case you're concerned about such things, making the list does not mean you're being morbid and preparing to die.  It's being responsible and making preparations for an event that none of us can avoid.  I'm sorry, but none of us gets out of life alive.  Make the list and enjoy life while you can!

I say yes. Because the more you cross off the better you will feel. It is a sense of accomplish and that you will always remember to do something you have wanted to.

I'm not about to live my life with dying on my mind, or even at the back of my mind.  I aim for what I want in my life, and that's it.  I live as if I'll live to be 150, and if it turns out that I don't (which, of course, it most likely will), and that I miss doing some things - well, whatever.  I won't be around to feel bad about it.  I'd rather live without having dying on my mind, than die without ever living without having dying on my mind.

I wouldn't. Life is about living, not checking things off of lists. If I decide to go scuba diving, it'll be because I choose to go scuba diving, not so that I can check it off my list.

But, different strokes for different folks. I hate to-do lists and don't get any satisfaction from them, but other people do.

I wouldn't say it is a wise thing to do or not do as you most likely will never finish it off  unless it is a very short one !- We keep adding to it as we learn about more places  but it is fun seeing all the fun things you want to do and then the ones you have done . I hate a to do list of housework but a bucket list is a reminder of fun things to do & places to see ! Ours is a very big list and at the top is doing a hot air balloon ride !
I have ridden a camel, fed a dolphin, swam with a turtle , been in a seaplane etc & next week we fly to Qld & will accomplish my snorkeling  in the Whitsundays . Writing it down helps you achieve it as you work towards it more .
The photo of Horizontal Falls where we stayed a night was taken by me out of a seaplane which was on my list !!

Why not! As long as you are light hearted and find it fun. Like everything else in life, for some people it helps to make a list. I know I wouldn't get everything done without one.

    Martyn,
Of course it's wise to make a "Bucket List". Not in some Jack/Morgan kind of way, but in the way that you know what you'd like to do before you die and know that time is infinite although your life is not. A Bucket List is not so much a list of "to do's" as you call it, but more of an acknowledgment of life and death. We all have things we'd like to do, and in an effort to organize and realize these dreams a bucket list would come in handy. Start with things you want to do most, form a budget/plan on how to do it, and then embark on your journey. Life is what you make it and there's no one to stop you but yourself.
So, yes. Make a list. Don't worry about not achieving everything on it, instead, live your life to the fullest and have no regrets. See the Eiffel Tower, the London Bridge, the Taj Mahal, whatever your fancy may be, and don't let the fact that you have everyday mundane stuff in your way.
       Best of luck mate.
         -Jace
