      Empirical evidence suggests that this Laker team can win a championship immediately.  Not only did they add one of the most potent PGs in basketball, but they added basketball's best defensive player.  History is on the Lakers side.

   Kobe and Nash are getting old and it's going to take them a while to gel, just look at the Heat. I don't think they'll even get out of the west this next season.

   No, definitely not too late. The Lakers should dominate for several years. Remember Shaq and Kobe? It will be like that, but even better with Nash.
   
   The Lakers will gel much quicker than the Heat did, because Kobe, Nash, and Howard will have clearly defined roles in the offense. That wasn't true with the Heat. They had to figure it out as they went along.

   I do not understand why everyone calls it Big Three? Lakers are bringing the new fashion - it's Big Four, Because Pau Gasol is in the same level as other 3 players. He was always one of the leaders in Lakers and now with Howard their front line will be amazing. Everything depends on how they manage to play together and if everything is okay they will definitely be the No. 1 contender for the title.

   I think that it is right on time. By the Lakers adding Dwight Howard to the roster the Western Conference finals will go through L.A.

   You mean big four?
   No, I definitely don't think they're too late. They should be improved after this off season. When talking about the ring, though, I think they still need a better bench, especially talking about their guards. If they manage to strengthen that, I think they'll be a real threat for miami, okc, chicago and the likes.

   I would say they are not a big three...or big four for that matter. I understand that Kobe, Nash, Howard, and Pau have all been the leaders of their team at different points in the careers but that doesn't necessarily make them a big four. They're just a complete team.
   
   The Celtics brought in Garnett and Allen to help Paul Pierce when they each still had quite some time left in they're careers. Its also worth noting they had about the same amount of time left as well. That is the same thing that happened with the Heat. They brought in James and Bosh to join Wade.
   
   The difference with the Lakers is they traded for Gasol years ago because they needed a big man who could shoot and play offense. He was great for their system. But that was while they still had Derek Fisher when he was still playing well. Since he left, they have needed a new point guard so they went out and signed Nash before they ever even knew if they would get Howard. They signed Howard because Andew Bynum was injured so often and played so inconsistently. Although Howard is a superstar which gives off the appearance of creating a big three or four, it makes sense for them to have someone there who can be a leader after Kobe retires. And finally, until Kobe does retire, there will be no question of who the leader is, which is the case on other teams, and this separates them from the others.
