What exactly does Omega 3 Fish Oil, do for your body?
People take omega 3 vitamins/fish oil pills everyday now with their multi vitamin supplements. Or a lot of people do anyway. Is there any "downside" to this? What exactly do omega 3's do for your body?
It is about fourteen years since I heard of Omega 3 and it is still going strong. Apparently.Eskimoes have fewer strokes and heart attacks because they eat the seals that eat the fish. The way I heard it explained is if you don't put the right oil in a car,it will run badly, generally.
We are evolved from the sea so our biological system needs fish oils or so they say.
I don't know of any downsides but there is not enough room here for all the advantages it has.
Omega 3 is a fatty acid that restores and repairs your cell membranes. It also excretes waste from your cells and absorbs the nutrients your cells need.
You are right. It is essential for the human body.
omega 3 or sometimes called DHA, is an important component of your brain chemistry, and helps with your concentration. You can read more on my hub:

The omegas are the good fats that feed our brains, bodies, not just fish oil, but the oils from flax, olive, coconut, nuts, and seeds, as well. Among the benefits include heart, eyes, skin, cognitive function, pain, and inflammation. Helpful in many conditions, such as arthritis, asthma, allergies, anxiety, MS, Lupus, ADHD,psoriasis, dry eyes, dry hair, OCD, addictions, and the list goes on. The only down side is if you take to much it can thin the blood too much, especially if combined with coumadin, but this is the same with any supplement, most do thin the blood. If you notice easy bruising this can be an indication, just cut the dose down. Other blood thinners include vitamin E, anti inflammatories such as aspirin, and ibuprofen, as well as prescriptive pain killers. So when trying new supplements, and herbs its best to consult a pharmacist, especially if taking a presciptive med, as adding supplements may pose a problem. In general though fish oils, flax, and other omegas are safe if used properly.

Do you take any fish oil supplements? Supposedly they contain Omega 3 which is good for the brain along with other qualities. I may be wrong. Do you take any fish oil supplements and have you noticed a difference since taking them?

You’re not dreaming and you did not misread the title. On February 3rd, 2010 Senators John McCain and Byron Dorgan introduced S. 3002, a bill entitled, The Dietary Safety Act. The supposed purpose of this bill is to make things safer for us by dramatically limiting our access to dietary supplements...
