This would be totally up to your obstetrician. What was the reason for your first c-section. V-BAC is common ( vaginal birth after ceaserian) but it all depends on the circumstances. If your OB feels it is safe then I would trust in that.

I have heard that some OB's will do it.  I had two C-sections though, my OB said it was not a good idea to go natural after having the first one by C-section.

I know women who had a vbac and everything went well. This however depends how your pregnancy develops and if it is safe for you and your new baby. You will need to be monitored. There are no fast and hard rules, each pregnancy is different.

I have a friend who went on to have 3 V-BACs after having an emergency c-section with her first baby! Just make sure you are working with a doctor who does V-BACs and will give you an honest opinion on whether this is a good idea for you. Good luck!

C-section is performed by an obstetrician when there is a complication before or during delivery which will adversely affect its outcome. If a C-section has been performed in the first delivery, its requirement depends on any complication associated with second pregancy, which may entail it. If there is no complication associated with the pregnancy, the obstetrician may normally give a trial for the normal delivery to take place but at times during delivery a complication may occur to adversely affect its outcome. Under such circumstances, C-section may have to be performed in the second pregnancy.

So it all depends on the second pregnancy itself and the presence or absence of any complication associated with it prenatally or during delivery.

I would get a midwife if I was you. Also check out a birthing center instead of a hospital. Doctors typically want to pick the quickest easiest route. In almost all cases a VBAC is possible. A midwife at a birthing center can talk you step by step through things to help prepare your body for the experience. They also give you more freedom during delivery than most hospitals do.

A good obstetrician will always give a trial to normal delivery in the second pregnancy with no complication after C-section in the first. But a complication during trial normal delivery may entail C-section in second pregnancy.

My doc told me to have natural for the 1st baby instead of C-sec unless there is complications. After that, you may not have the chance to perform natural birth because you doc will definitely prefer not to take the risk. Go ahead with the C-sec, unless your doc agree to natural birth after all the checking.
