Have you gone out of your way to meet a celebrity?

Who was it and did you feel the effort you went to was worthwhile?

Oh Yes!!!! I was crazy about David Carradine (RIP) since I was 9 years old. I always dreamed of meeting him. finally had a chance to do it when I went to USC in L.A. CA. My friend knew a guy that serviced all of Carradine's classic cars and when I wrote a term paper my friend, he got me the number of David Carradine's house. I started and established myself as a regular caller. I then one day became friendly over the phone with  Linda,  his then wife. This was in 1982. She invited me (finally) over to their home. She took an instant liking to me. We had so much fun. We took all David Carradine's fan mail out and started reading it aloud. She told me many stories. Gave me a tour of his home, and then a few years later I actually got to meet him when his dad John Carradine died and I called his agent to say sorry. The agent thought I was a member of the fringe family and invited me to John's funeral, then I go to funeral and see  his 3rd wife Gail who took an instant liking to me and invited me up to their home for the Wake. They took John Carradine's dead body out of the coffin and set him up in the living room with a pipe in his mouth. The whole group was drunk, especially David Carradine. Then I started getting invited to his house for parties when they moved to a ranch in Sun Valley. I video taped my visits there. Really cool. I was there, he was my idol, I always wanted to meet, and even drew cartoons on our meeting. But the first time I went to his house and knocked on his door, my friend whom I wrote the term paper for took me and waited at the top of Carrdine's street. A man answered the door and I said I was lost. He let me come in to use the telephone and IT WAS DAVID CARRADINE's house. In those days (1981) you could call the operator from your own phone and ask her what the number was. SO I called the operator and then she gave me private number. You could not get away with that today! But I started calling and became friends with the family. Then finally I met David after trying for years. I have the video of me and him and he even squeezed my butt a few times as i videtoaped the party. Here is that video tape so you know I am no liar, I finally met him after careful planning and it worked. Too bad he died. HERE IS VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZVwxBKvL6Q THIS IS AT AN EASTER PARTY FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY OF DAVID CARRADINE AND THERE I AM!!!!!!!

Wow you really were committed about meeting him. That is a way more amazing answer than I was expecting!

I got an internship at Sean Combs' Bad Boy Entertainment to see if I had a chance of marrying –  or at least dating – one of the artists he had on his label at the time. The guy came in with the rest of the group one day, but he didn't give me a second look. . . actually, he didn't look at me at all!!

It must have taken some dedication to get an internship there - I hope it proved to be more rewarding than your meeting with the Band member!

LOL! It was equally rewarding. It was all a great experience!

We're also waiting to hear your story!

When I was 17 and on holiday by myself in Jersey (UK) I cycled a 20 mile round trip to a church fete opened by John Nettles. (TV actor in 'Bergerac'). I lent him my pen and am glad I went but decided that was enough chasing celebrities for me!

Other than the pen, was there any other exchange??? I would think that was pretty rewarding, though, particularly after a 20 mile trek!

He'd remembered I had a pen because I'd asked for his autograph, so that was a plus, but overall I was better at talking to his dog who was called Alice.
Did you end up working in the music business after your internship?

No... some stints in the industry, but not music.
