   What is the reasoning behind not being able to change the URL even before one publishes a hub?
   
   I know a title can be changed, and I understand about the URL and google, etc., but if a hub has not been published, then why it is one cannot change the URL if during the process of writing the hub, one determines a better title, but cannot change the URL? Seems I remember being able to view the URL before publishing under the old format.  What happens too if you notice a mistake, is it there forever?

   Faith,
   I think the simple thing to do is to save your copy, then start a new Hub with a corrected URL and just do not publish the one with the incorrect URL. Once a URL is used, it is probably sent to a computer to see if it is a duplicate of some other URL and there is probably no easy was of purging the error.
   
   I know I have had some URL rejected because they had already been used. So I just think you have to use a little reverse logic.

      Hi Larry, thanks for the answer, but if you just unpublish or even delete will it allow one to republish with the same title, just not the same URL?

      I cannot anticipate any problem with that. Since the first was unpublished or never really published there is no duplicate copy issue. I do not think they worry about headlines being the same.

   Someone asked this in the forum a while ago and a staff member acknowledged that it was a good idea, so maybe the ability to change URLs pre-publish will be implemented. As for why we haven't been given this option all along I cannot say.  A work around is to just start a new hub with the desired url, recopy the contents, and unpublish the old one.

      Oh, thank you so much.  I did not see the forum.  I do so hope this will change as that would make things a lot easier than having to delete or unpublish a hub due to the URL is not correct or there is a mistake in it.

   Permalinks, Google indexing problems, links from other pages, sites and blogs, would stop working because you changed your hub's URL.

      Thanks so much for the answer.  Okay, I knew it had something to do with Google, so is it best to just delete it and start all over or can you just unpublish it and copy and paste all info into a new hub with the correct URL?

   Since your other questions have been answered I will just say you can go in and out of an unpublished hub as you would a published one to edit all you want to if you have a mistake or want to change something.

      Hi Pollyannalana, yes, I have done that numerous times, but the URL doesn't change when you change the title, once you have figured out a better title for the hub when you first initially started writnig the hub.

   I have several hubs that I have changed the title on and the fact they have a different URL than the title has not hurt them in the least. What is more important is the title and the keywords used.

      Oh really, wow, thanks for the information.  It's just when an email comes in and I see the URL, it reminds me of my mistake.  But I am glad it does not hurt the hub or anything.  I think the title and key words are key, but Google may not.
