   Anyone still hanging on to an old rotary phone?
   
   You know, the kind you actually dial and wait for, a short or long cord, no push buttons and you can't walk away to talk!  Your kids probably have never seen one of these. I keep one around for fun. What about you?

   I have 2 old rotary phones that were once in my childhood home.  I also had an "antique" phone with no dials or buttons whatsoever...but the type of phone used when the operator connected us to one another.....A few years ago, an antique dealer made me an offer I couldn't refuse..........

   I have two. Can't seem to let go of them. Sit there collecting dust, which I occasionally get.

   I wish I had one.  Unfortunately when those were in use, we couldn't buy our phones.  They still belonged to the telephone department and when a phone stopped working they replaced it with a newer model.
   
   I sometimes see those old phones come up for sale, but they're either too expensive or too broken to consider.  I love old things, so hopefully one day I'll find the right one.

   We used to use one and whenever the phone company phoned about selling us additional services and they heard we had a rotary dial, they used to say, "you can't have the new services with one of those". And we smiled because it made it so easy to say "no" to extra expenditure. But then the kids because teenagers and our phone bills suddenly rocketed and it was cheaper to buy "call barring", to stop outward calls being made (apart from emergency services) when the kids were around and we were busy. So we had to get one of the push button phones and the phone company took the old dial phone away. And now everyone has mobiles!

   I had a red one which I loved and miss ! We had another one tucked away in storage but finally gave it to a school drama department. We still have a non-portable land line though which I'm not about to give up

   I was up until just a few years ago. It was hanging on the wall in the basement when I moved in. I used it the entire time I lived there, and when I moved out it stayed behind on the wall. I figure the new residents are still using it today. Keep on hubbing

   I had one in my office, that I kept for nostalga along with some old Medical items I had acquired while in Med school..when I retired I gave it to my Brother who lives in upstate NY, for a birthday present as he is a collector of past years..it is his house phone and still works...
