How do you feel about losing the Hubpages RSS capsule?

   How do you feel about losing the Hubpages RSS capsule?
   
   For me it means editing almost 150 hubs, or losing all the links to my relevant articles. It also means I now have to keep reviewing articles to update links, rather than the RSS adding them automatically. I can't say that I was overly pleased to get the email :-s
   
   Any thoughts or suggestions?

   Brett, it bothered me that my articles in the RSS capsule did not open in a new window. As a result, I stopped using it and did my links myself. Though I probably still have a few out there that need to be removed, I won't miss the RSS capsule at all.

   I was excited to learn how to use it a while back to connect my relevant hubs. i also like to see it on others' hubs to lead me to new into. Still, there are those who say that their traffic picked up when they deleted the RSS feeds, so I'm trying to be hopeful about that. I just thought that RSS feeds made sense. I've started deleting a few just to see if traffic picks up. I probably won't have all mine deleted by Feb, so many will be automatically gone.

   I don't know because I never used them, but maybe hubbers could petition hubpages to automatically change the RSS capsules to static link capsules, rather than forcing hubbers to edit all their hubs and make the change manually.

   I really got into rss mode and put it on every hub.  Lots of rethinking here and linking starts all over.  It will be a lot of work, but HubPage management must feel it is a worthwhile thing.

   I'm annoyed by it. I also have concerns about editing my hubs to remove the rss. Not long ago if you edited a hub it got "no index" and got the idle wheel. With the removal of the idle we still have idle hubs, but now they have nothing beside them. My concern is that when I go into 60ish hubs and take the rss out of them I will somehow idle them. I just can't keep up with what hubpages is doing to us. I wonder how much any of it will really help traffic when everytime they make a change more and more hubbers complain about a drop in traffic.

      I don't think that edited hubs go through the review process anymore, and editing hubs does take them out of idle mode, at least temporarily.

      I agree and RSS is a useful feature.  The hubs I have it on tend to perform better and they help with cross-promotion of my sites that have similar themes.  Very aggravating.

   I find it difficult to sit and undo  rss capsules from a number of hubs.
   Regarding traffic, I am not sure whether the 'rss capsule' was hindering it.

   The RSS capsule was on my list of "things to learn" and I never got there. HP says that scammers took advantage of the RSS, so surely eliminating them would be a good idea? I'm following this discussion with interest!

      why should scammers get to ruin a perfectly good feature for the rest of us who aren't abusing it? It was a good feature and they are doing away with it using vague, unacceptable explanations.

    Well, I don´t know if this is good or bad, but I had never used the RSS capsule in the 67 hubs I have written so, naturally, I won´t miss it.

    I have nine hubs that use RSS feeds that I will have to modify to comply with their new policy.  But what really bothers me is, I wrote a hub about how to use RSS feeds to gain traffic and that will have to be removed. It was somewhat a best seller. Oh well as they say the only constant is change.

    I liked the fact that the RSS capsule kept up with changes in my account.  As I wrote new hubs, the capsule automatically updated to show the latest or hottest hubs.  Now, every time I write a new hub, I will have to go back and add links to older hubs.

    I never really saw a difference with it but used it in a few hubs anyway.  I'm one of the ones who read your hub about RSS Epi! 
    Not really sure how this will effect the general hubber but those devoted to using it may see a difference.

    You can use yahoo pipes for as a substitute. They have been around for quite some time. It can be a static url formatted into rss. It is tricky

    I mostly preferred choosing my own hubs to link to, using either regular link capsules or anchored links in the text capsules.  That way I had more control over what showed up and could link back to older hubs too.
    
    But like so many others, I'll have to go remove what RSS capsules I did use.  And I also had "how to" hubs that talked about using RSS capsules, so now I gotta go edit or just delete them.
    
    I totally relate to peeples' comment, "I just can't keep up with what hubpages is doing to us."  Yup.  My sentiments exactly.  I threw my hands in the air and spent the last several weeks working almost exclusively on my own blogs, and now this?  Yeah, I'm getting more and more turned off to HubPages.  I was a big fan of the site, and I still LOVE LOVE LOVE the community here, but lately I've been thinking I could make more money fishing under the couch cushions for coins than hubbing
    
    I hope that changes real soon.

    I struggle to see why I should go to all the trouble to update my hubs with new capsules, if HP will just end up phasing them out and I have to go through most of my hubs again weeks or months down the line to remove them. What's next, the link capsule?

       I hope not, because I'm replacing the RSS capsule with a bunch of links! I thought the RSS would keep things fresher, as it changes when I publish a new, related hub. :-)
