Should schools start each day with prayer?
Would it lead to a better society?
Yes. We did it when I was coming up and had Bible study as well. A school shooting was unheard of back then. People need to realize the writing is on the wall. They have taken God away from where he should be welcomed teaching our children morals and love for their fellow man. When God was taken, the devil was and is all around. Know God.... Know peace---- No God..... No peace.
Which one of the 3000 ish Gods do you think should be prayed to? Should we spend the entire day praying to each God? Who is to say what God children should be praying to? Why would anyone expect strangers to teach children about a God? How would USA act if schools decided to pray to Allah? I'm sorry this question brings about far too many other questions to provide an accurate answer. Personally the only person I want teaching my children about personal beliefs would be myself and my husband. Would it lead to a better society? No most bad people grow up in Christian homes. If living in it doesn't help I don't see how a 5 minute prayer at school would.
peeples.... Respectively of course.... How can you say most bad people grow up in Christian homes? That is very offensive and also an assumption. What about the Islamic faith. They are much more violent.
Jt I was talking about here in USA. Most of the country is Christian and most reports after serial, spree, and mass murders shows that the criminal was raised in the church.
I just have to disagree. As you have stated yourself there are over 3000 Gods. How can one point out Christianity? Christians do not behave as Muslim extremists. If a person truly has God in their heart, there is no way they could harm anyone.
And if one didn't have God in their heart than an extra prayer at school would make no difference. FBI states that most serial killers are religious. Since USA is mostly Christian, do you think all bad people happen to be the other 20%?
That still leaves over 1.5 million people who have nothing to do with Christianity?
So you really believe the only people who go around killing others come from that group? Ed Gein, BTK(deacon), and Kenneth Bianchi all claimed Christianity either as adults or raised in it. In the USA most data indicates killers are Christian or Cath
LOL.... You really don't like to be disagreed with do you? These people you have mentioned were also mentally ill. Just because one claims to know Jesus, doesn't mean the really do.
I don't mind disagreement.I do know for a fact however that there have been many studies on this type of people and they have been sane enough to go to trial. I'd bet half who claim a god, don't really. I like you JT so I'll agree to disagree.
Correlating the loss of religion in schools with increased violence is inaccurate, in my opinion. The world of today is different from the world before these shootings happened, including easier access to guns (the assault weapon ban was lifted in 2004) and a battered economy. Not to mention, the integration of the internet and its ability to support and connect crazy people. There are so many different factors to consider, factors that can be physically measured over time, unlike an unproven god. Plus, if we're trying to teach our children to be peaceful and tolerant, we certainly aren't going to do that by forcing them to worship one god and reject all other forms of spiritual thinking.
No. Prayer, while very important, should be private and voluntary. We would be a better society if children had parents who teach them about their faith, teach them to pray and teach them to have empathy for their fellow human beings. Schools and educators have enough on their plates. Parents have to step up and take the lead on this.
No.
We can get rid of swearing allegiance to the republic while we're at it. This isn't Nazi Germany.
Quite simply, some should be allowed to begin their day in prayer if indeed it is what their customers want.
God kills children! If God is capable of this kind of unjust killing, what is this really teaching our children?
2 Kings 2:23-24
King James Version (KJV)
23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tore forty and two children to pieces.
Well, since prayer can't stop little children from being forcibly raped in Catholic schools, I'm thinking it won't help much in public school either.

Where does someone like me, with psychic ability, fit into Christianity? Do you think I am evil?I believe in God & Jesus & God's Holy Spirit. But I was born psychic. I see dead people and I talk to dead people. It is a God-given ability. I help people. Yet I cannot label myself as...

Why Do Parents Send Their Children To Christian Schools?I personally think that each person should have to choice to partake in any (or no) religion of their choosing. It is a very personally matter that should be made individually. So it really bugs me when evangelical parents send their kids to...

When speaking of religion and someone says they are an "agnostic", how should a Christian respond?

Our government has demanded that separation of state and religion be invoked at all times. However; when prayer was allowed in the school there were also better moral principals to the educational process. When prayer was allowed before governmental swear-in; it seemed that the outcome of each term...

Do you think religion not being taught in schools has helped atheism to grow?my kids rarely talk about god or jesus and I find it kind of strange. the only reason they mention god is because their grandma will bring them to church every few months but they don't really know what it's for. I find it...
