How do you view your commentator level, and does this level affect your standings at all?
When i first reached level 1 Commentator a few months ago, it got me really excited. I like accolades that tell me that I am doing well at being supportive and sharing. I worked hard to reach level 6, then slowed down to do other things in the Apprenticeship Program. I reached Level 7 anyway, and it would be cool to reach level (the top)8, so I'm starting to work on more time for commenting again.
It's not hard. All you have to do is be consistently specific and appreciative when commenting on hubs.
Yes, it does improve your Hubber score to be a good commentor.
It is also essential if you want to join the Welcome Wagon team.
Thank you for the advice Sidkemp!! What exactly is the Welcome Wagon? I'm afraid I'm very new to hubpages. Any other advice you might have out there will be most welcome as well!!
elcome Wagon is a team of experienced Hubbers who help new Hubbers. You can learn more at http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/hubgreeters . 2 suggestions: 1: read the Learning Center, under your name in the upper right menu. 2: follow me for more.
I agree with Sidkemp. It starts as a personal accomplishment and grows to something more than that. I notice that I have been waiting for level 8! Also being a good commenter helps to build your audience which adds to your score.
Thanks Btrbell!! Always good to receive useful advice.
After years of being told that I "talk too much" by friends, co-workers, and numerous report cards as a child, being a level 7 Commentator and being given accolades for a previously "annoying" behavior is a refreshing and ironic reward that I thoroughly have enjoyed!
Still wondering how to actually view your commentator level? You will see it under your accolades on your profile page. Also, you can go to a hub you've commented on (except your own), and at the top right of your comment you'll see what level you are. At first you won't have a level, as it takes some time to gain the commentator status, but you will receive a notification once you attain level 1 and then in will appear in your accolades and comments on other's hubs.
Welcome to Hubpages. This site is awesome.
I do a lot of commenting, but hav no idea whether it affects my hub score. They do give attaboys for the number and quality of comments by making you a certain level commenter.
I find that reducing the frequency of your commenting will also reduce your commentator level. If you want to be read more frequently, do two things: (1) comment more, with truly meaningful comments, and (2) follow the Level 7 and Level 8 Commenters. Comments are appreciated, and the frequent commenters are the ones most likely to read what you yourself have written.
When I joined HubPages, I had no idea, even I can be awarded a certain commenter level. When I received a notification, that I was awarded level 1, I was surprised. Then each accolade was exciting and welcome.
And you have to earn it, if I might say so---by being acting here, by reading other's hubs, by contributing your own content, by participating in the Q-A section, by commenting and so on.
It may not bring any money for you, but it does bring you Satisfaction and Recognition.

How does Hubpages determine if you become a level 1,2,3, etc. commentator? Is it based on the number of hubs you comment on? The quality of your comments? If you comment on different people? Does anybody know? I'm just curious...

How does one move up as a commentator?I seem to have been a level 5 commentator for ages. I do comment regularly but do not move up. Any tips from higher graded commentators?

So I just discovered I am a level III commentor. Is that good, like, am I working my way up to be a black belt commentor? When did commenting start getting graded?
