   Are you more likely to leave comments on hubs that receive responses from the hub owner?
   
   I always respond to comments I receive on my hubs. Do you think people are more likely to leave comments when they see responses from the hub owner to previous comments? Have you ever decided not to comment because a hub owner didn't acknowledge previous comments?

   No, I never pay attention to whether or not the hub owner answers, although I do think it's a nice gesture if I do. I leave comments on hubs that stir a response in my soul, and in hubs of people I am following on a regular basis because in the spirit of community, it's nice to offer support for their work.

      Sometimes I comment, sometimes I don't. I guess it depends on how strongly I feel about the hub.

   No, I will still comment on another hub by the author as long as I know he/she received it. It's ok if they don't comment although it would be decent to acknowledge. However, I have had instances where I really love the hub and leave a detailed comment, full of adjectives and accolades, but the author doesn't approve it. It does not show up in the comment section. I used to think it was a glitch but it has happened with a few authors. To avoid feeling rejected again, I probably will not leave comments on those hubs anymore :-(

      I can imagine that would be very frustrating. I feel like if someone goes to the trouble of writing hubs, they should care about the responses to them.

      I think this might happen if the hubber has not logged in to their hubpages for sometime. Maybe that is why your comments have not been approved.

   I try to answer and acknowledge those who comment on my Hubs to let them know I appreciate their time and their comments. Sometimes I carry on a dialogue with a Hubber through the comment process, if the topic particularly interests me.

      I've never had a dialogue on a hub but I have gone back to the same hub several times to follow a dialogue. That's another benefit of actually responding.

   Yes, i always reply to the comments that i received in my hubs because i usually receive less than 5 per day, so no problem for me. Depending on how other hubbers receive comments per day. If she/he has 30-50 comments per day, i don't think she/he will spend so much time responding to them. Might as well answering questions and reading other hubs.

   It's nice to see their comments but I will comment on any hub that interests me regardless of whether I get a return.
   I try to remember to check my hubs and comments and add more to the dialog if I think it is a good idea.

   I comment on a Hub based mostly on whether I have something to say.  I try to comment on most Hubs I read all the way through just to give some feedback and encouragement to the writer.  On my own Hubs, I follow the same rule.  If the person leaves a comment which is a question, seems to want a response, or is particularly thoughtful, I try to comment back.  For a while, I was replying to every comment, but in the apprenticeship program they suggested that you not do that, especially on comments which are short.

   I crave feedback from others on my hubs (it rarely happens), but receiving it is not a prime motivator for my input.
   I do feel that whenever you read an article, it is courteous to leave a comment; even a simple, "nice hub," or "I felt this was too ____." We're all writers on here and we all want to know how our material is perceived.

      I agree with Andy.  I'm pretty new around here and I've only written a few Hubs so far.  Getting comments or feedback is very encouraging and helpful to new writers.

   I like to comment on Hubs that have caught my interest or offered something of real value, like a great poem, or helpful information.  I don't necessarily look to see if the author has responded to comments, but I do think it's nice to get a response from the author when I've posted a thoughtful comment.
   
   Seeing responses from the author makes me more inclined to leave additional comments on their hubs in the future.  I think I'm also more inclined to follow an author I perceive as interactive and accessible.
