    What is the stupidest commercial on television?

    I vote for the basketball player hitting things out of people's hands! Don't even remember the company who's advertisings name. Usually change the channel before they get to it.

    That would be Geico's commercial. And yes, I have to agree that commercial is completely stupid. smile

    You know, I've always liked the retired basketball player, Dikembe Mutombo, in that commercial. But that's exactly what I too thought when I saw it the other night.

    Why do some insurance companies have such asinine commercials? It's like they are competing to see who can top the other.

      Exactly. I hated the ones with the insulted caveman.

    I just took part in a poll about insurance commercials, and it was apparently sponsored by GEICO because there were a lot of questions about the gecko. I agree the commercials are a little silly, but I have seen worse over the years. I remember one about a construction crew remodeling a kitchen. The little skit was amusing, but I do not remember the product. The purpose of a commercial is to help the consumer separate one product from all the competition and like it or not, I think GEICO has been successful in that effort. By the way, I have Geico insurance for my cars.

      I too have GEICO but because of service not the gekko who I love by the way. Also I LOVE Flo! She & the pig are my favorites!

      But when the police officer asks the pig why he thinks he pulled him over and the pig replies "because I'm a pig driving a convertible?"  Don't you feel a smile forming? (-;

    I haven't seen the commercial you're referring to. I do know that the purpose of advertising is to embed the logo, slogan, business, whatever so, even if the ad is especially annoying it will make you remember it ... like the words to an irritating song that gets stuck in your head!

      The problem is today's commercials often don't relate to the product being sold. The irritation can make you tune out. So what's the point of remembering the jingle and not the products. They underestimate consumer intelligence. Dee

    I like that one; the one I don't like was the one with the girl eating ruffles, I don't get it at all.

    I would say that's one of the funniest recent ads I've seen, and certainly one of the best from Geico. Certainly better than the ones with the gecko, or moreover, the ones with the bundle of money with the eyes. Those were really stupid.

      I remembered another ad that I can't stand. Those for Fabreze with the "real people" being blindfolded and stuck into some "stinky" place. So fake, so badly acted, so silly.

      Oh yes the febreeze ones stink. I do love the new one with the baby's in the stroller. One is buying a red car. Can't remember what the other is selling but it ends with him needing a nap! Dee
