   What is the point of LinkedIn Site?
   
   I was asked to join so I clicked the link and set up my profile page. I thought it was just as a documented site to show our work. Then I keep getting 'asks' to write how good other people are at their job etc. I have no idea how to do this! So any ideas please, thanks!

   Its the facebook of the business world. You can join business groups on there. The way i look at it is, there are many people we meet who it would be inappropriate to add to facebook. They are not part of your social circle but you know them for work reasons. Linkedin is perfect for that.

   Hi Nell, It is social networking for business professionals.  It can be used as a tool to network in your field, obtain work related information or even as a career advancement tool.  Recruiters use it to find qualified candidates as well.  You can set up groups regarding a topic of interest and other business professionals comment on the topics posted.

   I think the recommendations help people select people for work and new jobs.  My son said he connected with some old friends and got some new clients.

   It's good for networking and establishing connections with people that you work with. I don't really use it all that much, but that's what people tell me anyway!

   I don't use it because I do independent research. I am my company.
   Personally it's just another way to show off what you do.
