    Did Jesus teach anything new?

We are constantly being told that Jesus and that Christianity are the only ones who have the answers to life.  I think they are pulling the wool over everyone's eyes by doing that.  There are others who have said and taught the same lessons as Christianity's Jesus and before his time even.  I brought this up over a year ago on FB and was told that others that taught these concepts were impostors and that Jesus is the ONLY one who taught these things.  Did Jesus or Christianity teach anything new?

I don't know what others taught but Jesus not only taught new Truths but made all things new. And the only way to know what that is you must follow Jesus by first accepting Him as Lord and Savior and follow Him to discover the GRACE and TRUTH that came by HIM! It's awesome!

As for Christianity, it's so broad in name and can mean many things but True followers, Believers in the finish work of Jesus on the cross and His resurrection to them all things are made new. So Yes, Yes and Yes! Jesus did in word and deed teach all things new that no one could.

      2. He forgave sin
      3. He reconciled man back with God
      4. We will never be separated from God again.
      5.  We are royal priests and kings.

To be saved through the death of God's son; that is new. What other religion teaches that the son of God had to die to save the world?

Egypt for one...Horus.  I do believe there were the same things in the Sumerian Texts if you so choose to look that up for yourself and learn.

I respect your right to view God in the way you choose Lady Guinevere. That's your choice. I see God in a different way. To me, he is a spiritual being, a singular spiritual being unlike any other. I agree that we have God in us but we are not God.

no Christian answer will please you I am sure but the main thing He taught is what proves who He is.   He taught and showed the proof of the resurrection which no one else has ever done.   and that is not a blah blah

Jesus taught that one physical human being can make a difference.  He did not require anyone to follow him or even worship the Lord.  But what he did teach was that it is each individuals choice as to what they wish to believe - and - if you believe in him, then you will not perish but have everlasting life.  The day of resurrection shall provide for the return.  One who lives as God did understands this completely.

Does a creation always follow that which created it...or not?

Lady, first the Worlds??? Read Heb 1:2 and 11:3. and for the NEW things Jesus taught are new according to the kingdom of God not a mindset. and no to the creation always follow who created it (Satan) didn't which causes the debates, unbelief inJesus.

Which version of the Bible is that from?  Then U agree that there are other planets that hold life?  Do you supposed they all know Jesus and he resurrected for them also? Pretty busy person and flying all over the Universe.

And God taught over and over again that he was the one true God. He was the maker; we were the clay. Adam and Eve were punished for wanting to be like God. God says trust in him, not in man or in ourselves. No teachings that we are gods.

No MAN taught over and over again to rely on an invisible being and the church will save you and you are guilty of sins you never done. All churches and religions teach the same.  Christianity is NOT the exception of these.

That's your opinion Lady Guinevere. I believe in God and I don't think he was a man-made creation.

Sand, Yes it is my opinion from my perspected the GOD has shown me.  It is all individualistic in our relationship that God and each of us has with it.  GOD is not a he or she buy the energy all around and through us.

I believe that we have God in us but we are not God. The God within us to me is the holy spirit. I believe God is a spiritual being, a creator.

Quite an intriguing question. Have you ever had a great teacher and half the time they are teaching you say "I knew that but never said it that well or understood it that well!". It is like we have a lightbulb in our head and hearts but it takes a great teacher to flip the switch to on.
Jesus could not have taught anything new. He is alpha and omega. So He taught old stuff that was new to man.
As to mere mortals, of course others taught love before Christ and even prophesied His life, death and resurrection.
I also think that is a reason we say "Jesus is the Word".
I learn something new from Jesus every day. But it is like buying a used car. It is only new to me.

Jisblessedposted 10 years agoin reply to this

like the concept of light bulb and the alpha and omega which would make it new to us but never to him. We need to know what's considered NEW.. Love been taught but was it the Love Jesus have the only real love. Who can teach it but Him? NEW to me..

Jesus also said that there is nothing new under the son/sun.  He taught what many others taught before him. They are called Ascended Masters.

In Acts 19: 25-27 says that man-made gods are no gods at all. gods spelled with a lower case g means false gods. The one true God is spelled with a capital G.

SandCastles, I am very interested where you got this rule. Or are you just saying "for you", the G and g have that significance.

Lady Guinevereposted 10 years agoin reply to this

SandCastle, God did not dictate the books of the Bible and I dont think he made a distinction of the proper noun/pronoun to use.  That would be MAN.

SandCastlesposted 10 years agoin reply to this

The point is your bible quotes, your supposed 'proof' is taken out of context. Jesus did not teach us that we were gods and neither did God. You don't mention that just the capitalization thing because you can't admit you were wrong.

    7. Lady Guinevere profile image68
Lady Guinevereposted 10 years agoin reply to this

WRONG!!!!  That is what your religion wants you to believe because if you really knew the truth you would have no need of church and they would have no way to control your thoughts and keep you in fear.

eric--   look in the front of your bible and it will tell you that a upper G is talking about the God.   Lower case other gods

Eric-the big g, small g difference was something I noticed reading the bible.
Lady G-religion does not control my thoughts and keep me in fear. That's not my reality.

No I don't think Jesus taught us something new.  I believe what he taught is so simple that we have difficulty comprehending it.  Then there is the whole trying to do it thing... As far as your belief in Christianity that is a different discussion.

This is a shortsighted way of looking at life. Much before Jesus , Lord Krishna in his Gita, gave all the answers to life. jesus just copied him

Thank you for the answer.  Now who taught about life before Lord Krishna, does anyone know?

      According to http://www.gospelway.com/religiousgroups/hinduism.php
To Krishna, God is an impersonal essence with no attributes like humans (can't think or love or feel)-just is. Teaches that we are all God-not what Jesus taught.

But Jesus DID teach that we are God. It is mentioned a few times in the Bible about how we Are Gods.  The first mention is in Isaiah 41:22-24.  The other 2 are John 10:33-35 and Acts 19:25-27.

First of all in that quote gods is spelled with a small g not a capital g. And the Isaiah quote is God mocking people who follow false gods, "Bring in your idols to tell us what is going to happen...so we may know that you are gods.
