   What did Jesus meant by: "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find..."
   
   What did Jesus meant when he said, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." Was he referring to Heaven? If so, what did he specifically mean by "knock".

   In my heart I believe that whatever you ask God for he answers if you walk in his will and you are honest. God will always have his door open ready to listen no matter who you are. You must keep an open and direct line of communication with God, you must be true to your heart and live in his will.
   
   God is there for sinners also that decide to repent. So the door is open for all his children.. We must find that door and keep our hearts open.
   
   Now here is a good way of looking at that verse that I have research and agree completely with also.
   
   One person puts it like this,,don't bargain with God be direct, if your child asks for bread you would not trick him with a live snake, its not a game, God doesnt play games. He also said , even if you are a bad person you would be decent to your children, most of us anyway, so God who created us , would be even better.

      Rayne, thanks for the reply. So that verse is not referring to "Heaven", when Jesus said, "Knock and it shall be opened unto you? What is the "it"? Your second paragraph seems to suggest that "it" refers to the door to God.

      yes the door to God, I dont think God means heaven as we all have abundance here on earth if we follow his will. He wants us to find and seek him here on earth for the pleasures of God, thank you

   Jesus said that all we have to do is these things to get the answers we seek.  He said that the Kingdom is within us and that to knock would be to knock on the door of your innerself.  All the answers are within you.  Since they are within you and the kingdom is within you then heaven and hell and God and Jesus and even evil and Satan are also within you.  It lies in your imagination.  Religions are always teaching about prayer and they pray for this and that, BUT with all that talking and asking how can they possibly hear the answer without being quiet and meditating.  Everything that we need is given to us and we are told not to worry about such things.  Have enough Faith (in yourself) to Ask, Be trustful (also faith) in getting an answer and then knock (meditate) on the door to your heart or innerself.  There is no mystery there. No religion either.

   I don't think Jesus was referring to Heaven specifically.   The "It" is whatever "it is you are seeking".   Jesus knew we have free will.  For us to be true believers of Him, we need to seek the knowledge and answers on our own. When you do things for yourself rather than having it handed to you without any work on your part, you do not learn, believe or treasure anything.  Jesus was not just speaking about faith or believing in him, he was speaking of all things we want in life--if we seek it for ourselves, he will pave the way to our realizing our dreams. Just ask and receive, just knock and the door will be opened.

      I talk to Jesus Christ a lot but I find Genesis hard to swallow. But seems like I can only hear Jesus' reply when I talk to him in the toilet and not anywhere else. Someone told me that is not Jesus. Could my talk be hijacked?

      On serious note, Jesus or the Spirits talk to you when you are somewhere in between waking and still asleep. Usually around 3:30am to 4:00am-at least for me. My thoughts seem so profound then or maybe it is just the wine?

   I believe Jesus meant to continue in prayer in per suit of His will for our lives and that is to know his ways which to me is heaven. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Knock is praying with reverence to Him being our Father with all power, wisdom and knowledge and giver of an abundant life through His Grace and gift of the Holy Spirit. Remember heaven and earth was connected before the fall of Adam. Since the fall we don't know or recognize God's ways as Adam did and He through Jesus have restored it but it takes our minds and hearts awhile to catch up with His Ways. So ask, seek and knock until you get it. He wants us to have it. The fulness of God. He's provided all spiritual blessings for us to enjoy life.
   
   This wisdom and knowledge can only be put inside us through God. He said I will write my laws (ways)  on their hearts and minds. God will write them no man can do that. No one can do it for themselves. If it's within you, He put it there. So whatever we do it's by His Grace (ability).

      A very Christian view, LOL. But of course, we are talking about Christianity. However, your explanation is hard for those of us like me, who are non-Christian, to follow. I find Lady Guinevere's explanation more digestable for non-Christians.

      I don't think of it as christian, it's truth. God is creator of all things and people so wouldn't He have the right to set the way for all creation to function.whether we like it or not?

      If you believe that God is the creator of all things, then you are right. But Buddhism and science do not agree to that. That's why I said non-Christians will find it hard to accept your explanation. Nevertheless, it's good to have all viewpoints.

   Knock here means ask. It is the same as when he said that you could move mountains.  He had just cursed a fig tree because it had no fruit and it died. Yes, he did horrible things like that, and then went on to say: New International Version (©2011)
   "Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done." Basically he was saying that what is now known as "The Secret" or "The Law of Attraction" is a reality and that you can have what you want from the universe by mind over matter and positive thinking!

      Many people say it works. It doesn't for me but that is besides the point. I was just saying that the Law of Attraction, as it also known, has its some of its roots in the Bible. A lot of people do not realise this!

   Hi everyone, thank you very much for all the answers. All have given very good answers of quite considerable detail, based on the Christian perspective. As a non-Christian, however, I can relate to Lady Guinevere's answer better. But that does not mean that the other answers are not as good. How I wish I could choose more than one best answer, LOL.
