   I found an exact replica of one of my "how-to" hubs on another website. What do I do?
   
   It wasn't just similar, it was verbatim. Is there anything that can be done about this?

   First, you should see if there's a way to get in touch with whoever posted it.  Look at the contact section on the website.  If that doesn't work, go to http://whois.net/ where you can find information on domain ownership and contact information for the website administrator.

   Yes, this act is called "content scraping" and it is theft.  Find out who the owner of the website is and contact them or go through Google's process of filing a complaint and get their site de-listed. DMCA complaints are suggested, you can look for examples online about how to write and file them.

      xanzacow the fact that it's on ehow is good news, I think the site will be very compliant in removing the duplicate content. I had a look at their copyright laws. send an email to copyright @ demandmedia.com b(no spaces) and link the original

      If Demand Media doesn't remove it, you can make a DMCA complaint. Google will know who's article was posted first, and that the other site will be reprimanded.

      the other good thing about complaining to ehow is that this person (content thief) could potentially lose their account.. i know that's not much, but it encourages them to avoid copying other people's work...

   I am curious if this site has stolen other people's hubs as well, if so I would suggest alerting the community. More than one person filing complaints would definitely help your cause!

      Would it be helpful, I wonder, for Hubpages to have an active list of various sites that have been caught copying Hubs. It might be beneficial.

   That can be very frustrating....I have had this situation happen to me in the past.. and yet once I tried to post one of my old writes on another website I was reprimanded for stealing an already posted work...YEAH..IT WAS MINE OWN ORIGINAL....however that website would not  even accept my explanation....
   Hope you get it straightened out......

   Comment on the post explaining that the work is originally yours. Politely (and I can't stress that enough) ask them to take it down. If they do not agree, report them to the moderators of the site, and explain the situation in detail, and include a link to the original post. Do anything you can to bring attention to the situation, and let people know that your work has been stolen.
   
   I'm very sorry that this happened to you. I hope the situation will be fixed soon
