What do you call it when you receive an additional life in a video game?
This is either through getting an item in a level or by scoring enough points during your playthrough of a game. The different ways I have heard it said:
Extra Life, Extra Man, Extra Guy, Bonus life, 1up
I am from the American South East. We always refer to it as one up, or we refer to it "Got some life", but never "got a life, or extra life".
We always called it a 1up where I come from. I haven't heard it any other ways.
Usually depends on the game. every mario game i simply call them "shrooms" then call the mega mushrooms "red shrooms". sometimes i'll be playing one of the mario games, and suddenly blurt out "Yay shrooms!" when i get one. but in other games, i simply got me a life. very seldom i'll use the term "extra life"
Never heard it phrased this way either. Sounds like something spoken in the Arcade gaming community.Free man, no need to load that next token. Thanks for the comment.
Ooh, I've never thought about why it's called that. Maybe a mystery from my childhood has been solved! D:
Those are all acceptable. That sounds like every way any other person would say it.
o yeahh I remember and i call it 1up(One up).And i heard it first time when i played my first video game that was Mario.
I call it getting an extra man. Ever since Atari I have used that terminology.
always called it an extra life. super mario bro's is what comes to mind when you ask this question.
Depends on the game, mostly. I often say "extra life" or "life insurance". If it's Spyro I might say Dragonheads; if it's Crash I might say Crashheads; if it's Medievil I refer to it as Bottles or Jars; and if it's Jersey Devil I just call them FFFFUUUUUUU's.

Why do some people consider yoga anti-Christian?Recently, I spoke with a Christian friend about doing yoga. Her response was negative. She asked me why I would want to do something that is against the Christian religion. I had no idea Christians looked at yoga in such a negative way. My friend...

Go to stats for your individual hubs and look for any that have 'frequently searched keywords that aren't in the title. Now ADD them to the title. I did this with the 10 or so hubs I could do it for and still I'm getting about 150 more views per day.

You hear a voice cry for help, would you help or call for help? Why or why not?How many cries of help go heard but unhelped? In todays society no one wants to be a witness to any sort of madness.

Do most people start articles with a paragraph or a picture? If you use pictures do you use a boarder or not? I am finding out my score changes when I change where the picture is located. Does anyone else notice this?

In your opinion, what are the worst things about a video game / video gaming?I'm about to start a new series on YouTube called "Greasy Gripes", a gaming equivilant to James Rolfe's "You know what's Bulls**t?". In this series, I'll be going on about my pet peeves in video games...
