What was your reaction to Game of Thrones S3 Ep9 "The Rains of Castamere?"
I honestly haven't read the books, but I thought that this episode was such a shock to actually see on the screen. I've heard about the Red Wedding but I didn't know who were the major characters that were a part of the massacre. All I knew was that some people get killed. After reading about it after seeing the episode, I thought it was a brilliant scene that was adapted well on screen even though some things were left out like Talisa being killed in the show, which I thought worked well leaving nothing for Rob. And Caityn's final scream was deafening after Rob is killed and herself killed.
One thing you learn reading George RR Martin is that no character is sacred, and anyone can die at any time. I was stunned when I read the book, and I was glad to see HBO sort of stick to the plot . . . though of course they just had to add unneeded changes. I was also wondering how people who never read the book would take it. It must have come as quite a surprise.
All in all, I don't like the HBO show nearly as much as the books. I get frustrated with their changes and embellishments and how they have things all mixed up. I was almost expecting them to keep Robb Stark alive just for popularity sake.
A Song of Ice and Fire is an epic story that pulls you in more than anything I think I've ever read. You can't get the full feel of it from what HBO is doing. I really encourage anyone who likes the show to read the novels.
I want to read the books just to see what changes HBO did. I know that Talisa lives since she isn't at the wedding but I liked that they killed her by taking everything from Rob and killing Rob taking everything from Caitlyn.
too much violence for TV..and I won't be surprised if every main character of the series would die in the end. I think the people behind the show really love death and are aiming for a tragic ending.
There is a fair amount of sex and violence in the books, but I agree that HBO has stepped it up a couple of notches in some very unnecessary ways. I guess they think telling an awesome story isn't enough to get people's attention these days.
It's HBO. They can do almost anything without restrictions since people have to pay to watch their shows. I agree that they do have a lot of violence and sex in their shows but it looks like people don't care if they pay.
I read the first book a really long time ago so when the show started I didn't remember too much about the books. I decided just to watch the show for what it was and eventually read the books.
"The Rains of Castamere" episode was the craziest, most upsetting episode to date. I watched right before bed and woke up the next morning thinking it was all a bad dream! When my husband reminded me that it wasn't a dream, my first words were, "I have to write a Hub about this!" I'm still in shock and am worried for what will happen on Sunday's season finale. The acting was great throughout the episode and the scene itself was done so beautifully. It really made me feel like I was watching old friends die, and that's just not very nice of them!
My gut reaction, when I could finally breathe after I quite sobbing, was that I'm absolutely devastated for Aria. While she may not have seen with her eyes as Ned was beheaded, she was there. And, while the Hound managed to scoop her up and take her away from the wedding, she knows what happened. She's the only one of the Stark children who knows that her mother, father, and eldest brother are all dead. That's a lot for her to carry.
I'm also sad...so sad that Lady Stark will never reconcile with Jon Snow. I think we realized that she loved him far more than she ever planned to or admitted to and I'm sorry that he'll never know.

So I've watched the first two seasons of the TV show with my husband. Then I learned that this show was based off of a book series. You can probably image how stupid I felt then for not knowing that before! Anyways, I've just recently bought the series because I have loved the...

I write almost all of my hubs for therapeutic reasons. My last hub was meant as a "this could happen to you if" hub...and to get some of the anxiety I had built up inside of me out. However, I added some graphic pictures of this very real situation. And now I'm getting...
