Does anyone have poems that do exceptionally well?
I have two poems that are doing very, very well and I have to admit I'm surprised. One is about the computer the other the mother of the groom.
oh, yes, I have many poems that are doing very well, and I always here about poems not doing well, but most of mine are doing quite well, especially the ones about my three-legged, dog, about desperados in our lives, spring, being a soldier's child, my sweetest friend, my new grandson, which has more views than any of my hubs, plus many more. So, I am pleased just as you are that they are doing so well. Plus my latest about my sister, but I added a little bit of history too there, so it is not just a poem. And really a lot of my poems are doing better than just regular hubs. They all have quite a lot of views and comments. I think the key is the subject matter and plus, with me, adding personal photos, which seem to be more appealing and adds a more personal touch that people seem to really connect with better on some level.
Good to hear Faith. I was honestly surprised to see how well these two poems are doing and was curious since, like you, I had heard poems don't do well.
By "doing well" are you talking about the number of views? I am wondering how many views you think doing well is. (to Faith and Mary) I have some poems but just wonder about how they are doing overall too.
Hi xstatic, yes, as far as views, one has 1,491 and the other 723, which is higher than hubs in my case so I consider that good in comparison.
I guess xstatic, I mean getting views. To me, over 1,000 is doing well.
I do not have my profile page to share on Facebook, as I keep that private for family and close friend. I am thinking of adding a Facebook page just for writing and sharing, so that may open up more views? I am amazed at the over 1,000 views w/o FB
In general, poems do not do well compared to other hubs. Although I as well as Faith have a few that have done very well. And some that haven't done well at all. Every once and a while we do get lucky with a poem. But, most of the time Google just ignores them.
Well, after further revew, it seems my poems have done very well, even surpassing my hubs in views, etc. I have one poem about silence, that is second to my poem about my new grandson in the most views of any of my hubs.
Good to hear your poems are doing well, Mary. Among all the poetry I do seem to have about half a dozen that are doing very well in terms of page views. In the top two is a romantic 'when I touch you' and a rather philosophic' The Brook'. I cannot quite fathom the reasons for their relative success compared to my other poems - may be others can!
No, I know what you mean. Mine is a poem about the computer! Really? Go figure my friend.
My poems perform fairly well, they all max out around one hundred reads before vanishing into the "hub not performing well" universe. I would have to say that my informative hubs do much better and keep and constant supply of traffic for me.
I write a majority of my hubs as poems .. some are great and some do not even get a look because they are fairly old.. but I do try to write content because i have content in my mind and i would fill up the hubs with words if I did. ..LOL
in my personal opion I would rather read a great poem or short story than a recipe..but that is just me .!
Coming from such a good poet it is no surprise!
It depends on what you mean by exceptional, tillsontitan. To me, exceptional means 50 to 100 hits a day. I do have one, sometimes two hubs, that do that but not poetry hubs. I would say I have poems that do consistently well because a day doesn't go by without these 3 poems getting views. My best performing poem is about sudden death. It has done very well, getting daily organic views.
This is, presently, a subject very close to my heart.
I find it irritating that HubPages requires and explanation of what the hub is about when one posts a poem. Poetry, by the very definition, is a matter of personal interpretation and if one has to have an explanation, the whole point of the thing is wasted.
I know that my “poetry” can range from the tongue in cheek to the “deep and introspective”, but I can honestly say that it doesn’t reach the turgid depths of some I have read on HP. The forced rhythms and rhyming patterns that I would not have accepted from my young children when I was an English teacher. I have read “poems” on HP which would make a pubescent teenage girl shudder because of their pathetic content and form. And what more can I say that that?
However, I have just been told by the HP Police that one of mine isn’t “up to mark” and will not be featured. In other words, they think it’s crap.
(Gets off soapbox and seeks out next door’s cat to give it a kicking)
It's been my experience that poetry collections do very well. I have one on another site that consistently gets 200 visits a day, which I think is really good for a single webpage of poetry on a site that isn't about poetry.
I just put three collections on HubPages and we'll see how they do.
As with any other webpage, you must optimize for search engines if you want traffic sent from Google and Bing.

One of my game guides gets 100 views a week, even though the game came out in 2014. When I wrote it, I didn't really think it'd do as well as it is. Have any of your articles done surprisingly well?

I know a lot of you are curious about how the niche sites are doing. Recently, 21 of my articles were moved over. Some were edited, some were not. Most did not have ads, but of the ones that did, some were left in place, others were converted to in text links to products.I've been...

I'm just coming back after a several year hiatus, and one of the most exciting things that started when I was here was the HubChallenge. Originally, it was 30 hubs in 30 days. Now I see it's changed to either updating your hubs or 30 hubs in 60 days. I tried the original once, and I failed...

Does anyone know if htere is a way to back up all my hubs in one go?If, as I think might be the case, I quit hubpages because to be frank all that stuff when you go to create a new hub is hugely overwhelming - take my poem, for instance, just went to publish a poem - just a simple poem and all that...

Hey anybody,I feel like these particular verses have been received poorly. I'm trying to describe the validity of imagination. I'm trying to say that, even if it's in our heads, it still exists in our heads. And what's in our heads is our heads. Our mind, our soul, goes to a subjective after-life,...

I have never written poetry before I have published my very first poem and I am not sure that I have written poetry now. When it comes to poetry I am clueless as to what makes something a poem and what prevents it from being a poem. Can some one help me out before I make a complete twit of...
