How do you achieve solitude?
It always disturbs me when I hear this word knowing that I haven't experience such feeling before and I want to experience such.
For me, solitude is getting to be alone while doing something that I enjoy for a few hours.
Proper meditation is one method. This involves self-discipline.
Possibly you can reach a level of solitude, by practicing yoga, or some other form of meditation. I know if I shut out everything else around me, by going to a Library, or in a quiet room in my home, then I can usually find solitude that way. Also I find a great deal of solitude, when I am writing. It is what I find, to be a real type of meditation for me personally.
Others may seek other things to bring them solitude. Such as taking a nice long walk in the woods, to be in attune with nature and its surroundings. Now this can be a real solitude for many. Monks for example find their solitude within the walls of a monastery. Hope this helps you in your quest for peace and solitude.
cianeko,
When no one is over at my home I get my laptop, a snack, some DVD's, and anything else I need for camping out, and I hang out in the yard for as long as I can. It's total solitude because I'm alone, not because I'm doing nothing.

For me, solitude is something I need on a daily basis in order to coexist with the world around me. I find solitude by making sure I am up at least 1 hour before anyone else in the morning and that I stay awake one hour later than everyone else at night. Solitude can be found in a shower, bath, working in the yard, taking a walk or any other activity where I can find time to become closer to my "Higher Power."
I pick my favorite place in the house, grab my laptop and a book with a snack. I go onto YouTube and start my playlist. Then I write and read, ignoring the rest of the world.
To me solitude is a state of mind and not a place. I have learned to be able to go to a place of calm and rejuvenation (I call it my happy place). I close my eyes and allow calm to wash over me.
I actually visualize a beautiful pasture filled with crisp green grasses, quietly whispering waters, and fragile flowers, brids, and butterflies.
Depending on how stressful the day has been or the present moment will determine how long it takes me to give myself over to a feeling of being removed from whatever has caused me stress.
I had to learn to do this since I have two seriously ill family members and it can take its toll if one does not learn how to manage it.
Perhaps you will find a happy place one..
Angels are on the way to you today ps
Many people have a negative view of solitude or confuse solitude with isolation. Solitude or the act of wishing for or enjoying quiet, peaceful moments is a way for most humans beings or "introverts" to recharge their batteries. Some of us gain energy from socializing or being with others. Then there are those of us who need time for reflection and time to process the outside world. Solitude does not necessarily entail feelings of loneliness at all. From many religious and spiritual traditions people preferred silence and found a sense of unity with God or the universe. Buddha attained enlightenment through meditation, monks lived in silence.

Why are hubs suddenly copied by someone else?In the last two days I have ten hubs possibly copied by someone else. Does anyone know what's going on? Some are Editors Choice, some are not. It is difficult to find the duplicates.
