Do you believe that the turmoil and strife in Egypt right now is the fault of the U.S., the Egyptians, or some other group or individual? How do you think it the U.S. should respond, if at all?
Regardless, may peace break out over Egypt and may life return to "normal" at the earliest possible time. My thoughts are with this wonderful nation of people with such a rich and proud history.
No it's not America's fault. There has been problems in the Middle East dating back to biblical days! It's not uncommon for a country to go through one or more civil wars to determine the path of their future. When America had it's own civil war it's doubtful any other country thought it was (their) fault.
A lot of these nations are going through "growing pains" when it comes to free elections and democracy. Unlike the U.S. where we (usually) wait to elect a new leader if the majority don't like the present one; a lot of these countries want to storm the compounds and remove someone before their term is over!
We've learned to accept the fact in the U.S. that no matter who is elected close to half of the population will be unhappy with the results. Life goes on.
Perhaps also the world's countries all expect us to bail them out any time they have trouble without pay or thanks. Perhaps that's why we're struggling to keep our heads above water financially with our enormous debt pool.
I think yes! America want a share of the oilfield in the Mediterranean sea. This is the way of America that always does, to get involved with some other nation's problems.
But, pardon, I still don't understand your point of view. The US didn't start civil wars in Egypt, which doesn't seem to have anything to do with oil, which we have enough of anyway. We provide military and financial aid when asked by our allies.
When a country wants to help it doesn't provide military services to other countries. This is not a way to prevent a war. Please don't misunderstand me because I like USA and the people who live there, however I don't like your government's decisions.
kategidascy, this is troubling--I adore Egypt and its peoples! But... How would ANY other country who provided military services to other countries cause civil war (war in the factions inside Egypt)? I'm just trying to understand, not offend, you.
No country has done anything! (openly). However people don't feel very well when another country's army is inside their country and it doesn't make things better. This is more for American interest than for saving the people of Egypt.
OH! I'm stupid, I finally understand: you're saying that American troops were in Egypt. Wow, that's news to me (with the exception of a small force for protecting embassies). I see where you're coming from now! Peace and apologies for the confusion!
NO. Blaming the U.S. for what is happening in Egypt comes from the right wing party in an attempt to discredit this President. That is their sole objective since he was elected in the first term, and has escalated to the detriment of America after his re-election in his second term.
The Egyptian people had a specific goal in mind and that was to obtain equality for the people, and freedoms of choice. When the new regime was failing to provide them with what they were seeking, they had no choice but to rebel again.
The U.S. cannot be faulted for promoting democracy, or the outcome of what happens when people actually stand up to the tyrants who would deny them their freedom, and equality.
And i doubt very much that the people of Egypt had any concerns about how U.S. can profit from their oil wells.
The opponents of democracy that have an interest in controlling the U.S. government will continue to blame this current administration to try and get back in power.
Once they do, there will be no magic solutions for the middle east turmoil. It is easy to find fault without having to offer any solutions.
And i would even dare to say it would only worsen. We all know that corporations tend to make extreme high profits from promoting wars, so finding any viable solutions will not be their top priority.
Only in the sense that we the USA, ( not I in particular, or you ) but those who represent us, have provided armament to sometimes, the wrong side. Its a crap shoot sometimes of which faction to support and that is why we the USA should stand back a lot further and wait instead of "anticipating" political mood of volatile governments abroad, and arming those who might NOT be the right party to endorse. as much as its not popular to do so, better to go in and support peace with troops than to send arms and "hope" or speculate they are in the "right" hands. World peacekeeping duties was "supposed" to have been relegated to the United nations, rather than be USA responsibility.. but they have done very little so far as I can see, and it seems not even they ( UN) want to disrupt the age old tradition of the USA being the cash cow to fund, provide arms, food and other of our valuable resources and them just to stand back and judge us.. Its more it seems of a "tool" to form world Opinion after the fact, and we usually come out behind the eight ball. As long as we are willing to fill the role and play high stakes the world will lead us around like puppets to fulfill agendas that are not what is good for America. Anti-American Laws in America slowly are choking and pulling the life out of us.. We are setting ourselves in a very dangerous position to fill our offices with Activists and Socialists and Anti Freedom propagandists.. FOR when the bell tolls the alarm, it will be too late for those that say they only quest for "liberties" civil rights or otherwise, to stop and say,
Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to give away the whole farm! I'm sorry w Iet the foxes in the henhouse! nope too late then for change.. They will walk across America and proclaim strange beliefs. strange cultures will rule, strange justice will rule our courtrooms. -- or randomly by occupational "peacekeeping forces".. they sure won't be upholding the star spangled flag that Betsy Ross sewed, or rule according to the constitution that our founding fathers died for. No .. Lady Liberty may mock us someday, and be there only to remind us, we WERE free. Pray God there is not such bloodshed in America next.. Pray for wisdom and understanding, and what to do to protect what we have. WE ARE a great country.. No we are NOT responsible for all other nations.. but we must fight and be brave against all evil.. evil within and without. Many of our people have given life and limb to protect freedom!
Wow! I'm speechless! Excellent commentary and insight--you've voiced what many of us are thinking. Thank you for your response! I especially love your line, "Lady Liberty may mock us someday." I wonder if she already is... Let freedom ring!

Do you think the day is coming when ISIS will attack us here in America? Is there any way to stop a ISIS attack here in America? What do you think America should do about ISIS? Should we strike them in such a way as to cripple their organization forever? What can America do to protect America? What...

It occurred to me to wonder why all of a sudden the 30 year lid has come off the Egyptian masses. Wikileaks leaked documents indicate that Israeli intelligence thought Mubarak's Egypt was stable right up to the protests exploded. There have been some indications that the Egyptian...

What happened to Emma Lazarus’s “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses …”?I did not think I would live to see the day when people would flee from hatred and persecution in America – again. The Underground Railroad brought slaves to freedom in Canada in the 19th century. Now, I see...

I watched Piers Morgan's show twice, once with Alex Jones as his guest and then again with Ben Shapiro as his guest. Both of these people believe that is necessary for citizens to have high capacity assault weapons, like AR15's to protect themselves from the eventual tyranny of their own...
