Acadia - Simply beautiful.  Would love to be able to see it in the fall sometime.

My husband and I used to go up every Fall for our anniversary (when the kids were small) and Acadia is beautiful this time of year. It's also amazing in the Winter.

There are so many and unfortunately, I don't know my Maine geography.  I have visited Bar Harbor once and that was lovely.  I've also visited another town that was mostly antique stores.  I wish I knew where that was so I could go back.  Then a third time I visited and ate at a wonderfully inexpensive lobster place.  Definitely would love to visit there again.  I live in CT so it's easy to travel to for me.

I'm thinking that the antique town was Wiscasset or Ogunquit. But then, Maine is filled with little towns with antiques. Bar Harbor is really, really lovely!

Acadia is beautiful, so is Popham Beach. Great places for nature lovers - especially at odd times of the year. I went to both in early spring before the people got there. I also LOVE the trek between Skohegan and Jackson... it's just VERY scenic, so much water! And if trees are where it's at the trek to Olamon is breathtaking, plus they have at least one old well preserved cemetery up there that's a nice walk through. I have yet to get to Mount Katahdin but I hear that's another good one.

Acadia is wonderful - when I need a "happy place" to visualize, one of them is Sand Beach. I live in Maine and love it as we have mountains, lakes, ocean, museums, wilderness, rivers, cities, etc.

There are many many favorite places to visit in Maine.
Any of the many harbors, Boothbay, Bar harbor, etc.
Any of thousands of lakes, Sebago, Long, Sebasticook, Moosehead.
The Rivers, with fishing and boating.
How about Lighthouses and coastal drives.

Too much to list here... :-)

Hi Don, It's hard isn't it. I live here and my actual list would be really long. I always tell people there are two places I'd live: France or Maine!
