What is the best way to get your Hub "re-featured" after being un-featured for lack of engagement?

In some ways, the more I learn about the current happenings with HubPages, the more confused I am.  I know many hubs are no longer featured due to lack of engagement, or low quality.  My question is what are the best tips for getting a hub featured again for reasons of low engagement?

If you want to offer further advice on top ways to get a hub re featured for low quality, open to hear those ideas as well.

Really all that you can do is edit them to try and satisfy HP. Try and add more pictures, videos, polls, etc. Everything that you think HP will find appealing. After this, if it still is not published? Try and move it to another site such as Bubblews. When you do this, be sure and delete it from HP. Good luck.

Increase word count by adding more text content. I have had to do this before and it does work, initially. Keep in mind that if lack of engagement and poor traffic were the problem, the article may return to nonfeatured status in a couple months. So, it's best to step up all that you can (properly attributed images, polls, videos, and grammar) to ensure that it will stay featured.

Use the "Need some goals" feature in the upper right corner when using the Edit Tool. Add some text, images, tables, polls, video. Check to see if title and first paragraph has effective keywords and that the title is something someone would type into the search engine. Also share on social media--Facebook, Twitter, Google+,etc.--to get some traffic flowing. Pinterest too. Use hashtags that will make the article more accessible in search.

I wanted to clarify the question a bit more.  I should have kept the question to fixing a hub for lack of engagement, and not low quality.  The first three answers are great, but seem to answer the question of what to do if a hub is unfeatured for low quality.  That is one thing.

More curious about how to bring more engagement to a hub that has lack of engagement?  I suppose posting links on social media, that kind of thing?  Thanks so much for you help and great answers.

My experience is that all those things I mentioned will bring a hub that's unfeatured for lack of engagement back to featured. I think Google has more to crawl, plus keywords are searched, social media promotes; I've never dealt with a quality issue.

You can change it to try to please them, but I have noticed that if you have written a well done hub, it will "re-feature" itself on it's own. A couple of mine were not featured the other day, but when I checked this morning, they are featured again. This happens constantly. Best of luck to you.

I wonder why when some are not featured, they then go back to being re featured?  What changes?  I have heard others mention this also.

Fantastic question and every hubber might wish to ask it.  I will study the answers and find solution.  I need to do something as 4 out of my 70 hubs remain not featured now due to lack of engagement.    Thank you for asking this question.

I have experienced the same with several of my hubs all of a sudden not being featured and then what I did was go into each hub and first see if there was any alert message on the top right corner which in most cases there was. I had included copyright information which I needed to remove an inturn, then use the automatic copyright feature now available through Hubpages on right panel options. I then checked each hub and when I went into edit I noticed some pictures were not aligned to their preferences, and when you go into a photo and edit it and click save it automatically resizes the picture to fit accordingly. However when I did that, if a picture was not high resolution, it then became a bit stretched and I got a warning message that it was low-resolution. In that case I need to replace some of the pictures. In addition I did add a few additional pictures to some of the hubs and I made sure that titles and sections were well written and nicely organized. Then after a few days I happily noticed that the hubs were then featured.

    Hope that helps!

My understanding of "lack of engagement" is that
    1) the title and summary are not enticing enough to get readers in the first place
    2) or the reader's interest is not engaged enough to finish reading the hub

If this is correct, then the first thing you should look at is your title. Make sure it is short, searchable and to the point. Then, take a look at your summary. Since you have limited characters, you need to write one sentence that will hook readers and make them want to open your article to read more.

Within the hub, you might need to break up text blocks with pictures or bold titles, make short lists rather than descriptions in paragraph form, and add some white space to rest the eye.  Adding a poll or video will also engage readers. The longer you can keep them on your page, the better!

Although your question is specifically for low engagement, it's also true that poor quality, spelling and grammatical mistakes and poor content are sure to turn off readers and having them clicking away from your article. When revising a hub for engagement, it's wise to double proof everything one more time!

One more thing that hasn't been mentioned. I think that there are some well-written, engaging articles that are seasonal or on current events that just don't engage readers all the time. An Easter hub in September or a Halloween hub in July might not draw readers year around, but they may become popular again when the season rolls around.

You could try combining an additional topic, or a sub topic to your Hub.  Just an example - if your original Hub was "How to grow beetroot" you could change it to "How to grow and how to cook beetroot", so you have expanded not just your title but added to the information inside the Hub, with the idea that you're making it more enticing.

Also, if you've written the Hub from a personal viewpoint, try writing it from a more professional viewpoint, so that it appears less like a blog entry.

It might also depend on the category you're writing it in, there may already be many, many Hubs on the same topic and yours could simply be lacking engagement due to this, so I would say even if you think the Hub is well written you will need to edit and add to it as much as possible or find a new spin on your subject matter in order for it to possibly be featured.

Also, if you have Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, share your pages there regularly to gain some possible extra page views.

    Goodluck!
