How quickly do you "unfollow" a hub after reading it?

   How quickly do you "unfollow" a hub after reading it?
   
   I always leave a comment and feedback after reading hubs. I find that I like to follow a hub until the hub author comments on my comment. Some authors don't leave comments, but that's alright. I read hubs for enjoyment, so the comments are a plus. When I read a hub of someone I know doesn't engage, I unfollow that hub immediately so that I don't keep getting updates about the hub. I was wondering what other hubbers do about unfollowing hubs. How soon after reading a hub do you unfollow that hub?

   Hi Marlene, well, I must confess, I never remember to unfollow and so my inbox is up into the tens of thousands at the moment!  I love to read the comment back, but I am drowning in emails and need to remember to unfollow once the author comments back for sure.  However, some hubs are so interesting, I love to follow the comments on and on, just me.  Now, every now and then, I have to go under my account under Hubs I follow and unfollow, as that is that fastest way to do so, when one forgets to unfollow after such a long period of time has passed.

      When I first started with HubPages I use to not unfollow. But like you, my email box was overflowing. Now, that I do the task of unfollowing, my email box is back to normal.

   I prefer to use the "my activity" list on my profile page to review hub comments rather than to have them in my inbox since it's quicker, but sometimes I forget to unfollow.  My main goals on that note are to try to read and respond to a hub of a reader kind enough to take time to leave a comment on one of mine.  A number of things can prevent that, but I do try, even if I have to come back to the task a little later.  Using "my activity" from my profile page makes all that fairly easy.

      What a great tip, RTalloni. I never even thought to do the unfollow task through the "my activity" list. I like that idea a lot.

   I don't follow a hub after I read and comment on it. It will show on my feed when someone else comments on it or when the author responds. I will just read the comments from there. I don't like my email cluttered up with notifications of everyone commenting on it.

      Hi Becky, I know what you mean about email clutter. I read a lot of hubs, so that becomes a real issue with me, which is why at some point I have to get busy unfollowing hubs.

   I usually follow a hub for about a week after reading and commenting. I'll continue following it longer if people are having some back and forth discussions about the topic or there are people adding additional information in their comments. But if the comments are only about the quality of the hub, I'll stop following after the week.

      Hi sheilamyers. It sounds like you have a good strategy. A week sounds like a good amount of time to keep a hub active before unfollowing.
