   Do you like the ending of MockingJay By Suzanne Collins?
   
   While I was reading the Hunger Games trilogy I was told by someone that the ending was disappointing. I also saw the comments of people online saying that they didn't like the ending. Personally I thought the ending was fine. What is your opinion of how it ended?

   It was my least favorite book of the trilogy. I thought the ending was really sad but I think it suited the overall themes of the series. I don't think I was disappointed by the ending but I would say I had higher expectations for the entire book.

   I think that the ending of Mockingjay was fitting, but that the ending of the story -- in general terms -- was very rushed. I've read the other two books in the trilogy three times and Mockingjay twice and I have to say it was better the second time around.

      Yes, exactly. It was as though the author reached the appropriate number of pages and then suddenly tied up all the loose ends.

   I found Mockingjay to leave much to be desired and to me it was very disappointing. I have no problem with a serious, tragic, meaningful, realistic ending but I do have problems with not following through. I may read it again to look for things I missed but I doubt that the things that disappointed me most about the book will be gone in a second reading. I guess I will just become more accepting of the ending. I am hoping that the movie will be better! (Even though it is based on the book.)

   Honestly, I think it was the best way (and possibly the only way) to end the series. Considering the heavy nature of the narrative, giving a super happy ending, or a super tragic ending would just feel like a cop-out. Katniss was a survivor who got caught up in an an epic battle. Despite being the protagonist, she feels more like a side character rather than the burly hero leading the charge against the capitol. And I think that's one of the reasons why the series is so good. She feels more realistic than other heroes and provides the perfect viewpoint of a deep and harrowing story.

   I didn't like it. Personally I wanted her to end up with Gale because of their history. I was also sorry that they killed off Prim. I remember after I finished reading it, my husband looked at me and asked, "Are you all right?"  I said, "I'm not sure." 
   
   The book really jarred me for some reason....although I still enjoyed all three.

   Like others have mentioned here, I thought the ending felt rushed and hurried. Almost as if she got tired of writing and just wrapped it up in an easy way. I really enjoyed the trilogy but I was disappointed with the ending. It just felt chopped off or something...I had this anticipation that something really extraordinary was about to happen but then it sort of fell flat for me. It could have been worse, of course, but I just wanted something more, I guess.
