Does Chiropractic Care work for a Herniated Disc or Sciatica?
I need to know your experience about chiropractic therapy before I try it...... any comments will be appreciated.
I think you should ask this question to http://expertphysio.hubpages.com/. He is a physiotherapist. You can put the same question in his latest hub on back pain.
My point is that it's always better to have a conversation with an expert. Hope this would help.
I suffered from sciatica before, my pain was really bad i couldn't sleep at night. I was tired and disappointed with my past doctors and tried several chiropractic treatment. I tried decompression and it worked wonderfully to me. i had 8 session with my chiro which lessen the pain for about 1-2 hours.
btw i'm from Singapore and if you have other question you can inquire through this online inquiry form at http://www.familychiropractic.com.sg/co … xg2h_mSzTo
I tried the chiropractic approach. It did help some, but I had to resort to surgery. The herniated discs had to be replaced, then physical therapy. I am considering going back to it, as all of my pain has not been resolved. Each has its place.
Research the Dr before you go, ask others about their experience. Look up the doctor on the web, and read the reviews, yelp is a good place to start. Patients are usually honest, good, and bad.
Make sure that your insurance covers the costs of exam, and exrays. Some usually don't. They only cover the adjustments, and can become very costly. It can take up to 10 visits, or more.
Some of the helpful advice was to increase water intake, b vitamins, warmth to the effected area, Epsom salt in a warm bath. Cherry extract, or cherries are a natural anti inflammatory. Magnesium is a muscle relaxer, and will help with pain. Aleve seems to work the best as far as over the counter pain relievers. No more than two a day. It used to be prescription, Naproxen.
As far as the Sciatica, a tennis ball in the buttocks area works very well, kind of like a pressure point. Place the tennis ball on the side that is bothering you, and lay down on it. It can also be used in other areas as well. An exercise ball is another way to "re align" the spine. Basically you just lay on it.

Obviously dependent on your amount of pain, start out slow, and work at your own pace. Hope it helps
