   This is a tough question to answer with the many years of life with them now passed. However I ponder the lesson most is a memory of family at a sister's wedding and my dad's toast offered at the reception.
   
   He offered a nod of recognition to the dad and mom of the now new husband, his wife (my mom), the audience at large, the bride (my sister) and groom, and then said,
   
   "Family ties . . ." (paused) then raised his glass to all followed by savoring the champagne with one long sip.

   Probably the number one thing I learned from them (through their mistakes) is to SAVE MONEY. Over the years I've seen how they've struggled because of not doing this and don't want to make that mistake myself.

      Saving money is the advice I feel many young people brush off. The idea of earning money for the first time is new and exciting for them. It feels like they got new super powers that they just want to exploit all the time.

   I think the greatest lesson I learned from my parents is to respect other people, even when you don't agree with them. They also made sure I had to work with people that were different from me, and to deal with those situations on my own. Between those two I learned that there are difficult people in this world and they still need to be respected for who they are and what they do. It is not an easy lesson, and I find myself still working on it from time to time.

      It is very wise of them to make sure you work with different people. It definitely helps in the future. My full time work consists of me dealing with different people, and I should know how important that lesson can be.

   I was young and stupid, and when my father tried to give me advice, I always waved it away. "Live within your means." "Put a little away." "Invest and let your money work for you." If I had listened to him, I would have been a millionaire by now. He was such a good, hard-working man. I love and miss him greatly. The funniest advice he ever gave me was, "It is just as easy to love a rich man as it is to love a poor man." Haha! I did not listen to him and I married a poor man who is rich in love. This is one advice of his that I am glad I did not follow because my husband and I are still madly in love 28 years later.
   
   My mother taught me many things but the lesson I cherish the most is that there is a God. She taught me generosity and compassion and all about the love of a mother.

   The biggest lesson I learnt from my father is education. My father did not continue going to school in primary grades and even in high school because my grandparents could not afford to send him to school. My father instilled in me to study hard and get educated because it is the only inheritance he could give me as we are also poor. He was right, if I did not go to school, I would not have been able to read and write like I do now. Great lessons from my Dad.
