I agree with Bercton. However, ethics change as an independent variable while the audience/readership group is the dependent variable. There are many kinds of ethics too like situational contrasting contemporary. Types of group(s) offers significance - general groups, specific groups, larger groups, and even larger groups.
For instance to put a detailed citation reference is not as mandatory with non-scholastic articles as it is with scholastic articles. To write a scholastic article for American Medical Association demands with ethical practices adherence for cause of verification as well as authenticity and integrity. A blog style article published even at WebMd may not require such a stringent practice.
Audience specific then followed with readership specific and finally readership generality predicates usage and application of ethical practices.
When writing any article...be sure to clearly define the topic and make sure that your research is credible, do not rely on taking someone else's word.
I do Medical Research and many times have found someone who fraudulently copied almost word for word from an article that I had published, this is known as Plagiarism , and has become wide spread due to the internet. These practices, can sometimes be dangerous when incorrect procedures/treatments are put out there for the public. So I would say research a subject or write about something that you already know/understand and are interested in, and above all do it with credibility....Very interesting subject...If I may ask what prompted this question ?
Thanks Kj force for such a detailed answer! The present condition of media in the world prompted me to ask this question. They are using unfair means to increase their rating and revenue. They don't care for the feelings and honour of the public.
