What are the 10 ways that our present government has become overly intrusive and invading on
the lives of American citizens?
Welcome to Socialist America where human rights is eroding on a continual basis. Americans are mandated to enroll in insidious Obama"care". What next occurrence is going to appear to further reduce the democratization of America? Obama's government is the most intrusive government in the history of America.
Not only are we required to have health insurance, which would be a good thing if it was ACTUALLY affordable, (Obamacare is a freaking joke) but they can also cancel your current insurance plan with some fake excuse as to why they canceled it, and then suggest getting Obamacare. Fail on the Freedom part, 'Merica.
Obama"care" is a freaking joke and so is Obama!
I agree that the current government in America is a joke, but I don't agree that it is all Obama's fault. This is something that has been happening for many years, even before Obama took office. In my opinion, most all government officials are bumbling liars eager to line their own pockets. I don't know if there is a way to salvage any good from what is currently in place. There are too many examples of government idiocy to cover here, but I would like to point out two examples that I have noticed in recent months.
In reference to the two states that legalized the recreational use of marijuana, I believe two topics stand out as a perfect example of government bumbling. First of all, the government was hard nosed about banks not being involved in this marijuana trade, as it is illegal for banks to knowingly handle 'drug money'. But now that millions of dollars in revenue are rolling in, the government is falling all over themselves to change those laws. They can't stand to watch from the sidelines, they have to find a way to get their hands on some of that money.
Obama also took a 'wait and see' stance on the state's marijuana laws, allowing the states to work out the results on their own. I happen to agree with this approach, and I think all the states should have more power to govern themselves as they see fit with less federal control. Then I read that some lawmakers are trying to pass a bill that would force Obama to enforce the federal marijuana law, and allow the bill's authors to sue Obama for failure to uphold the law.
The federal government is a joke, and we are becoming a worldwide laughing stock. I don't know if it is even possible to improve things at this point, but there are certainly a few things that might help. Of course, my ideas are to try and help society, not line the pockets of politicians. Things like:
1. Passing a law that forces the government to write a balanced budget.
2. Forcing able bodied people to work at a government job in return for their government assistance.
3. Eliminating the electoral college and using a popular vote system.
4. Allowing states more freedom to govern themselves as they see fit.
5. Setting an import tax that puts American products on a level playing field with foreign products here in the United States. The government could be in an unavoidable downward spiral. Obama, and many others, need to pull their socialist heads out of their butts and see what they are doing to this once great country.
Anyone who is ever lived in a socialist country will tell you America is far being a socialist country!
However Americans are mandated to pay federal income taxes, state/local taxes, pay into social security and so forth.
When FDR introduced Social Security back in the 1930s as a minimum safety net for senior citizens there was the same public outcry. There was a major outcry when the government starting adding fluoride to drinking water. Today these things are considered "normal" and no one wants to do away with Social Security or Medicare. It would be political suicide.
Nevertheless (only congress) can vote to pass major legislation in this country. Obamacare was passed into law by the senate, congress, and upheld by the supreme court. The vast majority of people I know get their health insurance through their employers. In fact I personally don't know of anyone who did not already have healthcare through either their employer or their spouse's employer. Obamacare hasn't effected me either way.
However it is completely understandable to resent being (forced) to do anything especially if we don't agree with it. Rarely if ever are there any laws that are passed where (everyone) "agrees" and that includes Civil Rights legislation, minimum wages, doing away with the military draft, allowing 18 year olds the right to vote, equal pay for women.Change is seldom welcomed period.
Long ago I adopted the stance of focusing on the things (I) can personally control in my life. "Obamacare" is here to stay much like Social Security and Fed/State income taxes. There has never been a president or anyone for that matter where I agreed with them 100% of the time. Growing up the way I did I learned not to rely on others including the government for my happiness in life. I watch both (teams) yell and bitch about the other knowing they are two sides of the same coin. Smart people will always find a way to earn a profit and live well despite what goes on in Washington D.C.
Allow me to forward the opinion of a recent visitor from the US. He is a hardworking man, and a good American. He said that under Obamacare his taxes went down by $1000. Also, his medical bills are a fraction of what they used to be. Because of this, he can afford to buy insurance for his son. He had to stop his son's insurance payments when he was hard up, but now the entire family has insurance. So he is an example of a case where Obamacare worked. He said the people whose taxes went up were people who were earning more money. But this American friend of mine is a dentist for lower income people and he says Obama was the first president to really care for the poor. My friend is not some guy who snuck into the country. He is an American who raised a family in the US and he says Obamacare has helped him out and his hard work has paid off. He has never felt entitled because he has always worked. But he is grateful.
Good to hear a different perspective. Good to hear all sides and all perspectives. That is how we learn!
1) Political correctness. Controlling dialog and assaulting the 1st amendment
2) Regulatory tyranny. Bureaucratic agencies circumventing the Constitution, the government picking winners and losers in the free market
3) Legal tyranny. Hate crimes legislation, politicizing the law
4) Intrusion in the private sector. Bailouts, nationalizing industry, Obamacare
5) Liberal Indoctrination in schools
6) The liberal assault on society and morals
7) Misuse of government agencies. IRS harassment of political opponents
8) Assault on the 2nd Amendment
9) Collusion of Government and Media
10) Invasion of privacy, keeping databases, IRS scandals

Now that Obama has already taken a "shot" at the Supreme Court, what do you think Obama's reaction will be if Obamacare is struck down?
