Are we allowed to have watermarked pictures in our hubs?
I'm confused. When I look at what makes a hub featured, it clearly states, legally obtained, no watermarks. In addition, when I made my own eternal on some of my personal photos, I was told I couldn't use them. Do why do I see hubs with watermarks?
I could be wrong, but I hope not. I believe it is OK to use a small watermark on our personal photos.
Oh, dear....I'll be waiting for clarification on this question!
I am also confused by this.... Usually from what I can see it is hubs that are of lower quality, so perhaps the writer isn't aware of the requirement? I'd still rather be safe than sorry :-)
You see hubs with watermarks because no one has reported them and the moderators have not noticed them on their own.
For guidance on using other people's photos: http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/legal-image-use
For guidance creating and correctly attributing your own photos: http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/Taking-Great-Photos
The recommendations for attributing your own photos, adding a copyright, etc. are at the bottom of the most previous document. The problem you likely had with your own photos was that you put a mark of some sort on the photo itself instead of under or above it.
Hope this info will be helpful to anyone with questions on this issue.
Thank you, Au fait. It is because of these cuisines that I am asking this question. My own watermark was no big deal. I just thought since it was my personal photo I could protect it from others, but, I HAVE reported watermarked photos with no result
On the rare occasion I have reported watermarked photos they have been removed fairly soon. It's been a while and some things seem to slide more now than they used to. You can protect your photos, but not with a watermark on the photo.
That's right, Randi, no watermarks. But you should be able to use your own personal photos, with your own eternal on them. Good question. I am thinking that a fellow friend hubber, who is a photographer, had a bit of trouble using her own photos with her signature, but maybe no longer. I hope you find out about using your own photos, as that is what they always tell us is best to use.

I'm aware that many people who have take their own photos and added them to hubs have been unhappy about the "No watermarks" rule on Hubpages. There is a simple way around this - that should both protect your content, increase your traffic and not break the rules.Create a MADE FOR...

Do You Spend A Lot Of Time Choosing Hub Photographs?I'm usually about 60-40. 60% of the time writing and about 40% looking for good photographs. I've read some hubs recently and the photographs were stunning and I thought the writers must have spent at least some quality time choosing just the...

Where do you get the images you use for your hubs?Do you use stock photography sites, clip art photos, public domain sites, creative commons sites, photo sharing sites? What do you do to get good photos for your hubs?
