What is the best way to quit smoking?

I've tried laser therapy but only once and it only lasted for 2 days.

i had to replace the habit. for me it was toothpick. i always had a few in my pocket, especially if i knew i was goin out to eat. really after a week or so the addiction itself isnt that strong. the actual habit of having something to do, is what was so hard to kick for me. i chewed on those dang toothpicks forever. i'll still grab one if its there, like at a restaurant. also if possible or if you dont already, add an exercise program to you routine. even just 3 days a week. you'll be amazed how much that helps.

I've never smoked, so I don't know how hard it is to quit, but I have experience helping people quit. One thing I've thought of is to change who you are. Think of yourself as a non smoker, not as a smoker that's trying to quit.

Imagine you go to a gas station and see the cigarettes there. You may think. "I'm a smoker, but I'm trying to quit so maybe not this time, but they look so good. Maybe just one. I'll just try to make this pack last longer than the last one."

Instead, you need to think. "I'm a non smoker. Those cigarettes don't even tempt me at all."  Or If your friend offers you a cigarette, just say "No thanks, I'm a non smoker" or "No thanks, I don't smoke."

Here's a list of things that might help
    • Acknowledging that the behavior is harmful. It affects others and requires change.
    • Being humble and feeling sorrow.
    • Seeking forgiveness from others who have been harmed, and learning to forgive one’s self.
    • Stopping addictive actions and beginning to do healthy things.
    • If you mess up, don't beat yourself up. A lot of people relapse. Always be willing to try again.
    • outline the times, places, and people that contribute to the behavior. Then discuss the list with a trusted friend. Talk about what they need to do to change or avoid the items on the list.
•write down what the behavior is causing them to miss now and, if not corrected, what it will cause them to miss in the future.
•write down different things they can do to avoid or discourage inappropriate behavior. This may include talking to your spouse, calling a friend for support, exercising, and any other activity that helps them avoid temptation.

You could also try prayer with this. It never hurts to have God's help.

Replace it with menthol candies. Then, try to divert your attention. The absence of desire makes you focus on other things.

My children learned about the consequences of smoking at school, and I helped them on this project, and it put them off ever wanting to start.

We looked at images on the internet of people who are suffering from the self inflicted damage, that they had caused, their lungs were cancerous, some were on oxygen tanks, others were sat with amputate limbs because the nicotine had lined their veins and arteries and stopped the blood flow, causing gangrene.

If you really want to stop, then look at the images, go to the hospitals and see for yourself how people have become diseased and bedridden because they were smoking and thinking themselves cool by doing so.

Look at the babies and children who are suffering as passive smokers.

Realise that the people suffering, thought that it couldn't happen to them, and realise that it can happen to you.

I know people with mouth cancer, gum cancer, lung cancer, many cancers, that have now spread, thanks to smoking, and for not giving up when they could actually have saved their own health, and that of others.

Think of the others that you will leave behind if you die from lung cancer, which is one of the main causes of death worldwide, do you really want to put your family and friends through so much, because you want to smoke.?

Don't leave it too late, do it now! Just stop, and don't waste any more time.
