What are your thoughts on suicide?

Some say its a cowardly way to go but if you (well if I really think about it), I think it takes someone with a lot of balls to actually do this!  However because I believe in god I know it is wrong to do such a thing!

I was seriously thinking of asking this very question earlier, and you beat me to it.  Suicide is not cowardly, but it is not brave, either.  It's heartbreaking--that someone could feel so hopeless and that there is no way out for them.  Truly devastating.

Suicide is one of the most selfish things a person can do. It takes forgetting or ignoring the facts that other people will be hurt by the action of killing yourself. With that said, when the brain is in a severe state of depression sometimes a bit of selfishness is understandable. Even more so when that depressed person has been fighting the feelings for so long. We all have a breaking point.

If you put a barbell on your back and have people start loading on weights, everyone will eventually collapse. It isn't a thought exercise. It is a simple reality. And while some people are stronger than others, we all have limits.

The mind is the same way. Some people find themselves carrying too much weight and collapse. It isn't a thought exercise either. It isn't cowardly, or brave, or ballsy.

When we are carrying too much weight the solution is to remove some weight or get some help. We all need help once in awhile, and no one should hesitate or be ashamed to ask.

I don't think it's either cowardly or brave, I think it's just what some people truly believe is the best option.

I also don't think it's selfish, as I would assume if your self-worth is so low that you don't think you should be alive anymore, you probably severely underestimate your impact on those around you. It might be more of a "they won't really miss me" or "they'll be better off without me" thing. They may believe they're doing their loved ones harm and causing them pain by being alive and depressed.

    It absolutely breaks my heart.

There are hot lines for people who feel suicide.  I took a psychology class. I found out that the first question. They ask to people when they call for help. How do you want to commit suicide. ? The patient tells how they want to do it. Then the hot line describe the scenario after the patient do it.  If the patient love his family they do not do it. The one who do it. First ,he does not love himself if he do it. How can you love your family if you do not love yourself. Sad scenario  they leaved behine their death.

I believe in a loving heavenly Father who looks at the intent of the heart rather than the act itself. I am religious as well but believe there are things (mysteries) about God we will not know until we pass away ourselves. IT IS A SAD thing. I myself had suicidal feelings as a teenager and have heard my four year old express feelings of wanting to die when she is upset. Red flag!! It is important to recognize a genetic predisposition to depression early on.

I think it's one of the most saddest things to hear, that someone had to commit suicide in this day & age....& when i hear of a kid having to resort to suicide, it really breaks my heart.....They do it because at that time no one has really helped them, & they see counsellors who've never been through what their actually going through....Sure they've got degrees PHD's etc, but they have to have been there themselves to really understand it....People who do it have nothing to live for, & all we have to do is convince them that there is something they'd love to do etc.....& we as a society will do our best to help them find it, Oh but hang on, then everybody would want to do things they love, then where would we be. :-)

Hello Mr. Daveadam. Good awser. I like it. Maybe, they have everything and nothing to worry about, or it is possible a lot to worry. It is not easy to keep  the luxury.  Other cases, spouse abuse leads to a lot of bad things. It is not easy for some

Suicide is a permenant solution to a temporary problem. They cannot see ahead of the problem and most things do get better in time. There is another serious situation also. Copycat suicides, especially among teens, and also among families and friends.     Never be afraid to ask someone in destress if they are thinking about harming themself or ending their life. It is a fact that this will not cause someone to do such if they were not thinking it already. DO not leave them alone for even a second if they answer yes or you are concerned they may have plans. Get them help and sometimes this is not easy to get cooperation.
