Obama asserts that climate change is a larger threat than ISIS; do you agree?
Obama is about to make a unilateral power grab, in the name of, Climate Change, in order to save the world from something that cannot be proven, and provides token resistance to ISIS, a known threat to the world.
Worried about his golf game is he? Just when I thought he could not do anything more unreasonable. Wow! Overlooking ISIS is going to lead to more deaths, hardship, genocide, starvation, and I could go on and on. I saw just today in London where Muslims are trying to enforce Sharia law in a section of London. YES, London, England. This is no longer a Middle eastern crisis, it is a global crisis of proportions like we have not seen in this area. ISIS must be annihilated. But, how do you annihilate an ideology? This is the BIG problem as I see it.
Obama is no leader. His agenda for America-to destroy and dismantle it bit by bit by bit. Look at the flood of illegals-and those illegals are the WORST of the worst. Of course, ISIS-he has an anti-Western, esp. an anti-American agenda.
As long as Islam itself exists, there will be groups like ISIS.
Robert..... ISIS is an organization of Muslims like never seen. Did you know as we speak they are committing genocide on every Christian they come in contact with. No, this is not an Al Qeada, or Taliban. There is no comparison to the barbaric behav
Almost nothing, if anything, in science is 'proven'. Science isn't about truth, it is about probability, and the probability of climate change being correct is very high. People are free to ignore the science, they can't change what the science says, and the science is exceedingly clear on the matter.
So yes, climate change, is a significant threat. Personally, I think it is so significant, that it is the ONLY threat. Nothing else, relatively, matters. And even if one doesn't see it as such a large concern, there are a multitude of reasons to move to a more sustainable world. Lowering pollution reduces negative health outcomes, we have some serious issues with water usage, fossil fuels will eventually run out, etc.
It is also a threat because it is incredibly complicated and solutions will require political, technological, cultural, and economic interactions between all nations of the world. That makes it an enormously challenging problem.
As for the second part of the question, I'm not sure where this notion of ISIS being a "threat to the world" came from. I can only assume it is driven by people who really like selling bombs and bullets and/or people who really like using them. ISIS is a minor to moderate regional threat. That's it.
Additionally, it is relatively solvable. So far, ISIS is using fairly standard military operations to seize territory. It isn't really anything exotic.
In terms of a relative comparison, I'd say that ISIS is like a crooked painting on the wall, and climate change is your house on fire.
Regarding Obama's actions, he hasn't done anything yet, but "unilateral power grab" sounds like typical over-exaggerated FOX News hype, and I actually think the approach to ISIS so far is correct. Regional entities leading the efforts with minor assistance from us, seems like the best policy
dashing..... My friend I find your comments about ISIS very naive about this HUGE military organization. And yes, this is what they are. Not just terrorists, but a military to be reckoned with. Have you really studied about ISIS?
junk-One of the most uniformed statements you have ever made.
Is not science the observation of information?
I agree with this sentiment. ISIS is a nasty thing yes, but to deny the strong evidence of climate change is just that - denial. It is a global problem that needs to be addressed. apples and oranges anyway. we can work to resolve both.
Almost every major scientific institute on the planet, the vast majority of experts in the field, a few million pages of scientific research conducted over decades...Doesn't matter how much there is if people just ignore all of it.
junk--Not true .http://www.petitionproject.org/ This is just 31,000
scientists and meteorologists who disagree. There are more. Give me two bits of evidence-not rhetoric.

Your organization has already been accredited. They have cooked the books and were caught
You need to update your climate change attacks. The alleged book cooking and petitionproject haven't worked for at least 5 years. Better yet, learn something about the actual science and have a conversation about it.
No. But I do think convincing the public that climate change exists is going to prove easier for him than growing a pair of balls.

And what must a woman grow, if she is to have strength of character?
Those who are in control of standard media outlets and corporate governments like the US always find events like this to distract people from the longer term, more serious issues. It's not an accident that it came up as the US national climate march was coming to its head in New York City yesterday (starting from Los Angeles in February this year) with an attendance of over 400,000 people.
I'm not saying ISIS is not a threat to the Middle East. But there have been similar threats all over the world throughout time. And this is not the first time I've seen the media get all hyped up about an event we would normally not pay much attention to, if not that there was something bigger the government didn't want us to see. Anyone remember the distractions that showed up before our economy tanked?
That climate change IS ALREADY a bigger threat to the world than ISIS. The People's Climate March is proving to governments/media that we will not be distracted this time. We need to stop damaging the earth and start supporting her health.

Yes we had a Pandemic Lockdown... is something worse on the Horizon?Under a “climate lockdown,” governments would limit private-vehicle use, ban consumption of red meat, and impose extreme energy-saving measures, while fossil-fuel companies would have to stop drilling. In 2000, the Western U.S....

There are two major would shaping forces at risk with a Trump presidency; an economic meltdown brought on by a sharp decline in American productivity, and, a much more important one, the environment. I will leave the economy to another forum, for it is the environment I am much more worried...
