    Did Jesus exist ?

Did the historical Jesus exist. Sometimes it's a bit confusing what people say. There are many books written about this subject. But is there evidence that Jesus existed ? Have you read something about the topic ? What do you think ?

The historical evidence for Jesus is extremely scant the farther back we go. The earliest writings we have about Jesus come to us not in the form of the Gospels but in the Apostle Paul's epistles, I believe its 1st Thessalonians that is dated around 30 - 40 AD with the Gospel of Mark being dated around 60 AD (keep in mind we have NO original copies of ANY new testament document).

In the writings of Paul we don't really see any of the details associated with Jesus in the Gospel stories, other than his death and Resurrection leading many scholars to see the Gospels as fictionalized accounts of a real man's life. There is a great series on youtube called Excavating the Empty Tomb which delves deep into the idea that the author of Mark was writing a deliberate work of fiction and that the Apostle Paul was talking of a Heavenly Jesus rather than a flesh and blood one.

I personally could go either way on the matter. We have yet to find any conclusive evidence that Jesus ever lived but the claim that a man was born, became the leader of a rogue religious cult, and then died at the hands of the Romans and the religious establishment is not a wholly extraordinary claim. Rather it is the supernatural claims associated with Jesus where skepticism is due in high amounts. I have no issue with conceding that the extraordinary tales may have been based upon a real person and simply grew overtime as legends do.

It doesn't really matter what any one thinks mate no one can prove it either way, because none of us we're there at that time in history to see or meet him..What i would suggest is you use your own tool kit your body & mind, & get out investigating life itself..Then you might come to a feeling that he probably did exist, & was a normal man who became enlightened..He in my opinion most probably did exist, & was just like us..He unlike most of us did indeed work the point of life out, & that point is that we're all down here for the very first time..& that we're all here to build ourselves, to build something worth keeping..I'm not religious at all because it's far too much reading for my liking, & that doesn't leave much time for actually practising what we may preach which is the only path to enlightenment..Anyway mindful meditation practice done daily, & learning to fully control all of your own emotions/feelings & thoughts which you cause create yourself Is the path which leads to enlightenment..& so be the best you possibly can & i guarantee, that you'll think the same as me because you'll actually be shown your path/drawn to it..Life is a great way to test to see if we want eternal life, or not..Do we get out there & care for each other & the planet, or do we try to work out whether or not Jesus Christ actually existed before we bother ourselves..Just look at the debates on Hub Pages between Atheists & Religious people, day after day arguing with each other when neither side can prove anything at all..All wasted time that they could either be meditating or talking about meditating, or discussing emotions/feelings & thought control practice..

Most definitely, He did.  I think it you really wanted to, there's some sort of record keeping the Romans did of everyone they executed.  They probably recorded it in some book or something.  Jesus had a major impact on everyone, whether they personally believe He is their savior or not.
