Should we consider how successful legalization of drugs has been in other countries here in US/

There is a definitive correlation between number of violent crime and people incarcerated for drug related crimes when we consider the legalization of drugs.  Look at Amsterdam, consider Switzerland, and then look at the US.  Do you think that legalizing heroin using the same model as Amsterdam, allowing the user a dose in am before work and again after work, would deter dealers, violent crime, and overcrowding of prisons?

im for legalizing it. its obvious to me, violent crimes are reduced by legalizing it. not sure i agree with people being doped up during work, especially in the medical field. i think it should just be treated like alcohol. use it at the appropriate times in appropriate situations and in appropriate doses.

There is no harm in legalising it. After all we have to be our own supervisors.
What can be legalised is the use of it, I am not speaking in terms of dosage or intake. What I mean by use of it will mean that anybody found abusing due to overusage should be punishable by law. Anybody committing crime under influence should be treated under stricter laws. This way from the police governing the trafficking, it will come down to individuals policing it for themselves.
Sometimes the word ban tempts people to rush for it than for its effects. Thus legalising the would help the cause in a better way if it is simultaneously a law is introduced for governing its usage.  As mentioned in one of the answers below, it should be treated as alcohol in terms of law.

So, is what you mean that we should legalize it but treat it as a controlled substance, such as prescription narcotics? I think that is reasonable due to the abuse potential for such drugs.  And you bring up a great point when you mention oui, etc.
