   What's the difference between Dems and Repugs?
   
   I've just been watching some CNN coverage of your mid-term elections. Bud does it really matter who wins? It doesn't matter here in the UK. The parties are "Right-Wing and Even More Right Wing. It is scarcely worth turning up to vote. Our election is in the spring. No one cares.

      Perhaps they should keep their eyes on Ted Cruz and Joni Ernst  to observe the difference between real American  conservative Republicans and the Democrats.

   There is very little difference that I can detect. As for right and left wing, both are right wind and it is tantamount to arguing about which feather on the right wing is more left.

   No practical difference. This circus show really is disgusting. Any real changes will come from the ground up---grassroots efforts on the part of fed-up citizens. Real reform on the grassroots level has happened in other countries in some cases.
   
   I think the adage "Information is power" is the key here. Our people are just too comfortable and misinformed.

   There is little difference between the establishment republicans and establishment democrats.  However, the liberal wing of the democratic movement is vastly different from the conservative wing of the republican party.  In terms of ideology, the left wants more top down central planning from the national level.  And the conservative wing wants more local control and limited gov't.  Neither party truly observes the grass roots views of the left or the right.  The answer to your question is yes...it does matter.   Because the republicans will always get pulled slightly to the right and the democrats slightly to the left.  So how you vote should be based on whether you want more top down central planning or individual and local control. 
   
   But this notion that it doesn't matter is something people say when they are frustrated.  It does in fact matter.  But what matters more is for people to hold the party they support to the values they campaigned upon to get elected, rather than conveniently change once in office.

      Thanks for your answer. It is incredibly difficult to work up any enthusiasm when there is only a cigarette paper between them. I always vote but here in the UK we have a centre and a centre right and pretty much no left of or let of centre, even.

      That seems hard to believe with the massive entitlement budget in the UK.  I wish we could move away from the left leaning entitlement state here in the US.  This is hardly a conservative fiscal blueprint. http://www.ukpublicspending.co.uk/

   The reason our society has worked up until now has been because it is  balanced. When one party becomes too powerful the other party usually wins the next election cycle.

   None. The cosmetic differences are superficial and merely for show. On the items that really mean anything to their bosses (the Corporate Party), both parties are exactly the same:
   * More war
   * More government
   * More spending
   * More tyranny
