Have you ever been to a drive-in movie?
Being as "old" as I am, I lived my teenage years at the drive-ins...I think I remember every movie I ever saw...my best dates were at the drive-ins...the triple features were the "best". Did you do this too? Too bad they are gone....
Yes. I went to one in Greater Manchester a few months ago. It's a real novelty here in the UK now but there are still a few. I wish there were more.
I loved it, (probably helped that it was in June and we never felt cold).
We saw Jersey Boys. It wasn't as good as the show but I think it was much better than if it had just been in the cinema.
It's not a common thing in Portugal... so no... There was one near my house, but I think it ended before I moved in... So I never went to one.
There is a very cool 2 screen drive-in theater about 30 minutes from where we live. It shows double features for a very inexpensive price and they are first run box office hits. They have an incredible snack bar that has sandwiches, wings, subs, candy, popcorn, soda and more. A great time to be had with a group of friends and some folding chairs.
Yes. When I was in elementary school and lived in Seattle, Washington, my family would go to a drive-in theater sometimes. I recall seeing Unforgiven, Terminator 2, and Last of the Mohicans, among others. Since that time, however, I cannot say that I've even seen a drive-in theater, which makes me a little sad.
Yes, growing up in Bufflao, New York, drive-ins were the norm. They are all but a thing of the past. Although you can still find one here and there.
Are you kidding, my wife and I lived in California during the sixties and seventies. The issue with drive in movie theaters is and was; they take up too much real estate. The best ones had children's play areas up near the screen or near the snack bar. We would pile are two kids, if one can pile two kids, into our 65 ford mustang and head for the movies. Always a double bill. the last pair of films that I recall was "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" playing with "The Undefeated". I liked and still do like both films.
We would get either get pizza or hamburgers from a near by hamburger joint, or pizza parlor, no not one of the mega burger or pizza places of today, but a mom and pop place that had great food.
I don't think the kids ever sat up through two movies, but it was a pay day treat on the weekend. The fee was per car not per person and the car speakers were terrible. A lost part of our past I doubt will ever return. I am glad some still exist.

Yes a long time ago when our eldest was little. I cannot remember what movie it was tho !
I agree, it is too bad that drive-in movies are so rare now. The closest to where we live is about a 45-mionute drive.
Saw "The Pink Panther" when I was a kid and "La Bamba" later on. Some towns have licenses to show movies in local parks, and they can be fun. In the summer there are free movies on the Esplanade in Boston. Saw "Charlotte's Web" with my daughter at a residential park in Boston.
Something missing from childhood if they become but a page in history instead of a present reality.
I've always had a dream of creating a "new" one...with a nostalgic approach...perhaps with a "deck" restaraunt lounge, some vintage "shops", open 7 days a week...the square footage needed could be very well utilized.
Sighs It's been a long time since I have been to one. I was in college and saw Spring Break and another one but can't remember the name. When I was a kid we used to go to one a half hour away and watched disney movies.
Jeesh, Lois, now you brought back even more memories...as my kids grew up, we would park our station wagon backwards...me and my (then) wife would unroll sleeping bags on the roof...my kids remember every single movie....
