   Do you ever visit a cemetary to talk to a departed friend or realitive?
   
   Many times on television you see people visiting a cemetary or graveyard to talk to departed friends, loved ones, or family.  Do people really do this?

   I visit cemeteries to shoot photographs of old stones and monuments, and I often see people visiting graves, touching headstones, and changing flowers. Are they talking? I don't know. I give people who are paying their respects a wide berth, so as not to disturb them.

   If it makes someone happy or provides solace, then by all means do it.
   
   Personally, no.  I do not believe there is anything of the friend or loved one left in a cemetery.  I can visit them in my memories, dreams or prayers.

   No, I've never done it but it does seem to work well in the movies!
   Personally I believe the spirit transitions out of the body at death. Therefore any conversation one has would be with a headstone.

   Many people visit cemeteries for departed loved ones. If you go to one, you will find people scattered throughout the stones visiting the monuments of their passed loved ones.
   
   My best friend recently committed suicide, it was only until then I understood why people visit the cemetery. As you can imagine the confusion of my friends suicide hit me, I doubted it many times, even to the point where I thought it was staged. Subconsciously I was searching for him, and the most likely place he was is buried beneath his headstone. His burial site was the closest I could get to him, at least physically. To imagine, he was just a few feet beside me. As I stated previously, these grave sites are that persons monument. A monument commemorates a person or event. When we wish to see our loved ones, the closest we can think to get, is where that persons physical body lie.

   Yes, people really do this, and While I respect others who do visit a cemetary to visit one who has passed on, I personally subscribe to a response of "Let the dead bury their dead."  This is probably just selfish though, because I would rather not be choked up and open any potential flood gates.  I would always prefer to just keep looking forward,and never behind.me.

   Yes, we do. My husband and I do that with his parents. My sisters always visit our parents and sort of talk to them.

   I think it is a personal choice, and my choice is to do so. I feel some comfort when I do so, even though I know it is only their body that lies there. My dad passed away suddenly less than six months ago, and I talk to him daily (once again, a comfort thing) although I do not drive the hour to the cemetery where he is buried.
   
   Each person has their own way of dealing with the loss of a loved one, and if visiting a graveyard and talking to them is what makes you feel better, then do it.

    I haven't lost too many close friends or family, but those that I have I most certainly try to make a point to stop and visit them.  But I believe they are always with me, at a cemetery or not.  So I talk to them pretty much everyday.
