Do you have a favorite Hubpages published short story?
Now is a great time to nominate Hubpages short story writers. I want to seek out the talent on this site. I'm sure that there are hundreds of writers out there that I haven't met.
Well, I may have just read it today. It is a story written in response to billybuc's latest challenge written by Sallybea. It is great!
I saw it come up in my feed, I'll have to check it out.
Wow, just amazing. Very pleasantly surprised, and defiantly NOT disappointed. Sally is a great storyteller. It's one of those stories you won't soon forget about. Sally's story highlights the talent in this community.
Most definitely! There are so many gifted writers, it is hard to narrow down to one story.
One of the most compelling fiction writers on HP, in my opinion, is klidstone1970. She is the master of fiction and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I think my favorite story so far is Beneath the Guise. All of Kim's stories are several chapters long (posted one at a time), but she's got it going on as far as I'm concerned. Not only are her stories interesting and raise the hairs on the back of your neck, but her grammar and spelling are impeccable.
I agree Shauna. It is very difficult to choose a favourite story or writer, there are so many great ones here. However Kim's story "Beneath the Guise" is one of my favourites.
I don't know her but must check her out. There's no telling how many wonderful writers are here that we just have not come upon yet.
Randy Godwin is my favorite hubpage author and I do not have one of his as a total favorite. He writes lots of stories about the deep south, in particular Georgia.
Oh yes, I love Randy's stories. They are all excellent and one never knows how much is truth and how much is fiction.
klidstone 1970 is excellent. WillStarr always writes fantastic stories with a twist in every one. cam 1510 writes really short, short stories that will have you on the edge of your seat. Randy Godwin writes very good stories about the South. mckbrdbks writes some very good stories and has some mystery stories going now. Wr1t3r writes some very good stories, although she has not posted anything lately. They are all very good. resspenser is not really prolific, but you will love his stories. vkwok is a prolific writer and his are always full of action and adventure. Sunny River has not written for a bit, but the ones she has up are very good. These ought to get you going for a while.
I cannot really pick a favorite of these writers, let alone a story that stands out.
I have no idea how to answer this question, Jennifer. Some of my favorites have been in the challenges. I'm afraid to write any names, because I'll forget somebody who has done an outstanding job. But I have to say, this place is a blessing for a writer of fiction. The support encourages the writer to keep trying, to break through to a new level. Will Starr, Frank Atanacio for historical fiction and crime, Jodah, DAHoglund, Randy Godwin, wingedcentaur for creativity. There are lots of good writers here.

I truly love the short story, and often wonder why there aren't more authors in the genre. Is it a lack of interest by the readers, or the writers, or both? Am I wrong, and why? Any thoughts on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

I have come across quite a few promising fiction writers here on HubPages, lately - including many people I didn't know before. Please introduce yourselves, whether new or not. You could also mention what you are currently working on, and whether you are seeking feedback from other writers, etc.

Good writing won't save a bad story. Bad writing won't necessarily kill a good story. Thoughts?I read something along these lines recently and I can't remember who wrote it. King? Hemingway? There's no excuse for poor writing, but I'm thinking about the value of a good...

How are you promoting your poetry and fiction writing now that Hubpages is putting most of it on idle?
