   To those with decreased hubscores as a result of the new hubscore updates, has this event
   
   motivated or demotivated you from writing hubs? Has the new hubscore updates making you reconsider staying at HubPages or simply giving up and moving on?

   I may not be best placed to answer this question as I realise I am still pretty new here.  I dropped by 8 points for this account, but I am  thinking fair enough if it is more about engagement and outside traffic which I am still trying to build.  I also write under two other profiles here which have been around for a month or two longer.  They have also dropped a couple of points but I know they have more polls and videos included so I am thinking that is affecting the score.
   
   It is demotivating when you see the Hubber score and individual Hub scores decrease as you automatically feel you are not doing as well.  Personally I am not focusing too much on the scores.  They are there, they fluctuate but the algorithms are a mystery and other than some basic work on engagement features, promotion etc I'm not sure there is much I can do to control them. 
   
   I am still too new and excited about this venture for me to consider leaving and I also so far don't appear to have been hit too hard by these changes, but I only have a small collection of Hubs at the moment and I do understand why others around much longer may feel very frustrated by it all.

   I've had to reevaluate who to follow. Following hubbers with low hubber scores will lower your own score. I try not to follow anyone with a hubber score lower than 80, and I used to prefer to not follow those with scores lower than 85. I'm making a few exceptions for hubbers that I like in spite of their scores, but it has made it more difficult for me to know who to follow and who not to.

      I wasn't aware following people with a low score impacted our own? Where was that determined? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me why they would do that, but then again a lot of things here don't make much sense at times lol.

      I don't know if it is stated anywhere, it's something I have noticed though. When I drop to 99 and I go and unfollow anyone below 80, my score seems to go back up to 100 within a few days.

      I think the hubber score is more of a gauge of how often and in how many ways we participate here. The more you use forums, q&A, write hubs and help others is all part of the formula.

   My score is dropping too and I bring a lot of traffic to HP - of course they don't consider traffic now in the scores lol. 
   
   I've decided that I am just not going to let the scores trouble me personally.  I know from the feedback I receive and how much my work is shared, that I am connecting with my readers.  That's the important thing. 
   
   I'm also easily making payout each month (thanks to my traffic that doesn't count lol) and to me that is what keeps me motivated to keep updating and writing here.  Mostly, I devote the bulk of my time to my own sites though.

      See, my score is usually 100 and I do not make payout every month, usually every other month. So, what is the purpose of these scores anyway?

      That's my whole beef with scoring - the ambiguity behind it by staff. If they would simply state the purpose and how you go about it I'd be fine with the scores, but as they are now - they make little logical sense to me.

      My score DROPPED....REALLY. However, the readership number is immense. I am receiving loads of traffic to my hubs.I am under the weather right now with a cold so when I am better,I am going to revamp the weaker hubs which are decreasing my hubscore.

   Neither. There is entirely too much emphasis put on hubscore. It's not an ultimatum on writing ability, nor is it a reflection of popularity. It's just a number that fluctuates on the whims of an unseen (and overly complex) formula we will never get to see. The only way I would stop writing for HubPages is if they started micro-managing how hubs should be written. I'm aware they already do this to some extent, but I'm thinking specifically about other writing sites that are overly strict about what is and isn't a proper article for their website.

   After being with this site for over 5 years and having scores in the high, mid and low 90s I mysteriously plummeted down to 83. Quite frankly, I feel as though my credibility as a writer has been assaulted. No longer do I want to share my articles with others because on appearance it looks like I dropped from an A student to a B student and that is not acceptable to me.  Hubpages has proverbially "kicked me to the curb" and I find myself both disheartened and discouraged.
   
   Loyalty to Hubpages, knowing I have turned out quality work, seems to have become a one sided street.

      I maintain that you still have a high hubber score and that you can use HubPages help files to improve your score if you choose to do so. Those with low hubber scores (70 or below) will probably never be as good a contributor as you are, Dennis.

      Austinstar, you are very correct in your premise.  83 is a good hubscore.   There are those with hubscores in the 70s and below, some have hubscores in the 20s.  Everyone can stand improvement.  I intend to revamp my hubs when I am better.
