Whats the point in using HubPages if their guidelines are costing us?
I wrote a few articles for HP a year ago and then work basically took over so I took a break. However, I received an email telling me one of my articles had been 1000 times which got me back. The article in question was on the first page of Google. I very slightly rejigged the article but HP weren't happy so I edited and re-edited until I even had to alter the title to suit their QAP. Now, I've watched my article fall down the google rankings and the traffic fall, eventually it might not even be featured if traffic keeps falling. So, i'm now going backwards because I had to edit my article.
I do not have an answer. I have more than 140 featured hubs. I have an accolade for answering 100 questions on this site. I have taken two breaks and in the process, some of my followers left. The number that says how many followers you have is bogus. I have checked out several formal followers, and they do not exist. I get less than 10 views a day as a rule, and I made no money last year and none so far this year--at least least not close enough to the $50 minimum to be paid. My participation is limited. There are some favorites among the Hub rulers, and the rests of us are having to fend for ourselves.
It's difficult to comprehend as the Hub was doing well in traffic and was on Googles 1st page. I only edited it to remove an amazon link and they decided it was no longer good enough, so I've followed their guidelines and am suffering because of it
HubPages makes the changes they do in order to keep up with Google's ever shifting standards for what gets displayed in their search results. I'm sure they would be more than happy to leave high-traffic hubs alone, but if they did, those articles would eventually get low rankings and it would drag the entire site down with it. Google, and the internet in general, is constantly changing, and it can be very hard to keep up with, both for us and the websites that host us.

Hi everyone,I'd love to hear how you are using HP for your SEO efforts. Any tips or suggestions? I run a celebrity gossip site and use links from my hubs to feed traffic. I also have so e customized ads that I created from Bannersnack that are linked to a few of my hubs here. Thanks!

What are the advantages to using Hubpages over a personal blog for which you own the domain?I've been thinking about it and I'd just like to hear some pros and cons either way. It's tempting to start my own site and keep 100% of the ad impressions. However, I know that Hubpages gets your pages...

I looked at my hub scores today and cried. They have been falling steadily for two weeks from 70's & 80's to 60's and 70's with one 59. Today, one of my hubs has fallen to a 50. HP is sending me mixed signals. I am told to write in a niche that I am passionate about with...

I see a list of the most successful people on hubpages, who were able to replace the income they made with a 9-5 on hubpages. I want to know the secrets. Can anyone share? I want to know what to do in the simplest instruction.
