Straight from my catechist days, wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel, fortitude, piety and fear of the Lord. Through understanding we find truth; through wisdom charity and the Divine in the world; through knowledge we learn hope and through counsel we perfect prudence. Piety informs our judgement in seeking justice so that each person receives his just due and giving Gog that which He is due. Fortitude prepares us for challenges and danger. Lastly, Fear of the Lord gives us the strength and commitment to address our fallen and disordered nature.
That is from an essay I wrote as a college freshman, a million years ago.
"Gifts of the spirit" are any of the abilities Jesus demonstrated as well as those it is not written he did (John 14:12) will be a gift of the spirit. Some people can look at or hear a person talk and tell almost everything about them, others has telepathy, others can actually heal, and so on, to be able to do those and others without being "born of the spirit" (John 3:1-8) would be a gift of the spirit.
Psalms 84:11 says "...No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly." There are benefits after benefits given to those in Christ Jesus! Psalms 68:19 says "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah." The "benefits" are too numerous to mention yet one Scripture comes to mind and that is I Corinthians 12:1-11 which says, "Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethern, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore, I give you to understand that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed; and that no man can say that Jesus is Lord (God), but by the Holy Spirit. Now there are diversites of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are diversities of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God who worketh in all of us. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit. For to one is given, by the Spirit, the word of wisdom; to another, the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another, faith by the same Spirit; to another, the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another, the working of miracles; to another, prophecy; to another, discerning of spirits; to another various kinds of tongues; to another, interpretation of tongues. But all these worketh that one and the very same Spirit, as divided to every man severally as he will."
To cover it all James 1:17 says "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."

Two Christians, both led by the Holy Spirit in understanding. Differ on meanings of the Bible. Who?I stopped trying to determine just who is led by the Holy Spirit. I take folks at their word. But they differ. The 4 Gospels differ per perspective. Isn't this just clear as a bell that God works...

Belief without the Holy Spirit? If what many Christians these days claim is true, that it is impossible to come to have faith in the biblical god without the intervention and interpretation of the Holy Spirit, why was the great commission necessary? Why leave conversion and...

How do we know if we understand the correct context when we study the Holy Bible?I have often wonder why we sometimes if not often misunderstand the context of chapters and/or verses when we study God's word. One can read a verse or chapter a number of times believing they understand it's meaning ,...
