   Have you ever felt discriminated against when applying for a job?
   
   I do not just mean racial or gender discrimination.  Sometimes people get discriminated against for not being attractive, having a lanky/weak body build, or looking too young.  Furthermore, sometimes people lose jobs to others who are way more under-qualified.  What is your take on discriminatory hiring practices?

   Yeah I have experienced that. And it was because of where I graduated. The human resource staff did not consider me because of where I graduated in college. They somewhat prioritize those graduates who share the same school with them.

      I'm sorry about that.  Discrimination runs rampantly in hiring practices because people tend to search for others similar to them.  If they can turn you down for trivial reasons, you probably are better off not working there.

   Yes I have felt that way. When I went to the next job interview they hired me and it was a better job and much better pay. It was all worthwhile.

   Yes.
   I have a speech impediment and a degree in journalism. Radio and television reporting was out of the question. I had a successful newspaper career. I moved to Public Relations for an Oil and Gas Trade association in my home town and good money. The issue of the speech impediment followed me for 23 years until we had a shakeup in the overall management skills I had developed over that time, I was fired, or let go. No reason was given. I got a generous severance package and insurance for a year. I could not find a job because of the economy, my age and my speech impairment. I incurred more than $90,000 in debt for medical reasons before Obamacare became law. A hospital for gave $32,000. I managed to get some doctors to give me Medicare rates, and I took an line of cedit equity loan on my mortgage-free  home. I am now 62. I draw Social Security. My 401K now yields annual revenues, and things are looking better. I was 59 when I was let go. I planned to retire at 62. My plan would have been better, even if I accepted a pay cut, as I suggested, but the decision was made. Yes, I felt there was some discrimination.

   Indeed, before I received my first summer job in college 30 years ago I was interviewed two times by other companies. Both times I was not hired. Interestingly, the one and only time I was hired; my 3rd interview, I was wearing the same color suit as one of the interviewers. They indeed hired me. Thus, most interestingly, perhaps the other companies must have discriminated against me for not wearing the same suit?

   Yes. I was once discriminated against by a Christian employer because I would not agree to evangelize others on the job. He clearly broke the law.
   
   No, it was not a ministry or Christian organization. It was a company in the construction industry.

      I asked around and the consensus was that I probably wouldn't win in a court case due to lack of documentation. So, I eventually accepted that they were a-holes and got on with life. I'm actually glad it didn't work out.
