   What is your priority, a job you enjoy doing, or the amount of money you get from that job?
   
   We are all told to find our 'niche' in jobs and we will enjoy it to a point where it is no longer a hard task.  That sounds great.  But a niche is by its very nature rare, so often we have to take whatever is offered as an exchange of the pay-packet.  Some people will prefer a job they like, regardless of the size of the wages;  others opt for one that gives them the money to "live" fully after hours.  What is your priority?

   I think it is important to be in a job that you somewhat enjoy in an environment with colleagues that are pleasant. Salary is obviously important in order to survive and live; but I wouldn't sacrifice my current job which has a pleasant environment and a decent salary for another job which I don't enjoy in a cut-throat environment with demanding colleagues even if the salary was better.

      Hi Abdus Salaam, So, if I understand you correctly, you're saying that you travel midstream!  You will accept something less than the 'perfect' job, but that is not bad, so long as you have enough pay, even if it is not top pay.  Right or Wrong? Tks.

      I am saying that I value (1) job satisfaction and (2) pleasant environment, more so than (3) a good salary [so as long as though I have enough pay, even if it is not top pay].

   I took a 50% pay cut to work at home, doing something I love. While it was nice to have all that extra cash, and not have to worry about where the next paycheck is coming from, I don't miss commuting, or other people telling me what to do, and how to do it.
   
   For me, loving what I do is more important than how much I make.

   The salary is important to a point.  But for me if I am offered a high paying job doing push-sales, then that's not for me.  I did a sting selling Kirby Vacuums and lasted 3 days.  I do not like pressure sales jobs.  But if it is a good paying job doing menial work where it is boring, repetitive work-I would go for that.  It would be something to look forward to come vacations, days off and retirement.  Then down the line if a higher paying job comes along I have to weigh my options because I would be starting all over with seniority, vacation time and so on.

      Interesting, and thanks for sharing your views. You too will weigh up the pros and cons for each opportunity. Not for you the highjump decision. There is no best way. The beauty of Q&A is the variety of responses. Do our backgrounds affect that?

      It could be.  Of course if I was working in a min wage job but still loved it, I would go for the make more money job
