Depending on the circumstances why aren't inmates given second chances of being part of the society.
One wrong decision shouldn't put an end to your freedom.
Most inmates *are* given a second chance at rejoining society. The ones who remain for life generally did not make "one wrong decision." They may have a whole stack of crimes, either committed all at once or over time until they were caught; or they did something truly horrific and society has deemed them unfit (as in too dangerous, untrustworthy, etc.) to live freely and without consequence. The more serious the crime, the more serious the consequence.
Lol! 1 second apart. Some people do not learn their lesson the first time they're caught
Sadly, yep! And LOL at our timing. I see we interpreted the question a little differently too. I was thinking about people who stay in jail rather than former inmates, but I agree with your pov too. :-)
I agree, there should be something done to help them get a job when they are released. A lot of former inmates have a hard time finding a job especially if they have been charged with a felony. Plus society should not look down their noses at former inmates. But I guess like you said depends on the circumstances. One example is Susan Smith who drwoned her two babies. I can understand why, if she is ever released, why society may give her a hard time

Overall, do people deserve second chances after making (at best) careless or selfish errors, if not doing completely evil deeds.

What are some jobs that prisoners could do that would benefit society while they server their time?Do prisoners still make license plates? What other jobs could they do to reduce the cost of housing and caring for them during their incarceration ?
