   No it is not wrong, if you don't loose hope, impossible can be made possible. The world's greatest miracles were performed by those who believed that every hopeless situation had some hope, who believed that impossible can be made possible

   It is incorrect to have hope in a hopeless situation. That is a statement which justifies itself logically and semantically.
   
   But who is the judge of hopeless situation as such? Can you think of one situation that is truly hopeless. I'm sure with only a little imagination I could counter any hopeless situation that you can think of. Even if my counter is one of only a small probability, possibility is the only prerequisite for hope.
   
   Also, who allows or disallows hope? Does one grant it to another or maybe one to oneself? Do I allow myself to run from a hungry cheetah even though it seems hopeless? I don't imagine so. At that point I am taking instructions from my legs, not the other way around.
   
   Finally, to the question of the moral grounds of the matter. That's the easiest part. A thing is right if it is correct. Wrong if incorrect. In a deemed hopeless situation my biology causes me to possess hope because of the chance that my judgement of the situation itself may be wrong.
   
   It is not so much you that has hope, but the cells that comprise your human body and the hardwiring in your brain engineered through millions of years of natural engin.. I mean selection.

   I think one should never lose hope.
   
   Let me tell you about one example. You see, one of my father's coworkers lost one of her children, a boy, several years ago to some really crazy cancer - it got in his brain and killed him very quickly. Supposedly, this was the kind of cancer that shows up in children, and once it shows up, the end is very near, with only one person surviving up to their, I think, 18 years of age. The fight against something like this had been hopeless from the beginning, but she never lost hope, even if she lost her child in the end. She would always say "well, there is always this institution, it's called 'a miracle'".
   
   Her boy died. But in a matter of a very short time, she was pregnant and expecting another boy. So, yes, not the miracle she had been hoping for, but certainly a miracle nonetheless.

   Hopeless means to concede or give up.
   I noted you have this question listed under health, mental health, and emotions. This would tend to make me think you are referring to one's state of mind rather than some unrealistic capability.
   When it comes to one's {state of mind} oftentimes:
   "Perception is reality".
   The truth however is as long as one is breathing a there's a chance for a tomorrow thing can change. However hope is the igniter that keeps one motivated to make the attempt to create change.
