What are the possible ways in order to know your purpose in life?
Because the truth is, I really don't know what to do in my life since I'm not good at anything.. And it's hard to live life knowing that you don't have any passion, nor purpose... Will anyone enlighten me? Thanks!!
One of the main things in life is to be humble. Your question shows you are a humble person therefore you have already achieved one of the main goals of life! Congratulations.
Secondly a humble person will be shown the answers they need by life itself in a natural way.
You are therefore a good and open minded person who will be given the answers at a time of life's choosing.
You are good at being honest and humble so really you have already achieved many of life's greatest goals.
Thank you so much!! Your comment is very uplifting
WOW! Ozinato! That even made Me Feel Good...and it had nothing to Do with me!
I prefer function and logic however.I believe an analogy is in order here:An electrical wire has one primary purpose or function;that is to conduct electricity. You can hang cloths on it,tie things together with it,etc but its primary purpose and function is to conduct electricity; An increase in the flow of electricity thru the same wire will power a light or a house or a city etc.More electricity gives greater illumination...that's a fact.
The purpose of people is almost the same as that wire with one major difference...we are designed to conduct consciousness...which results in greater awareness...which creates 'happily ever after'.
That's a great analogy! Thank you very much!
I question your assumption that you are not good at anything. All I can say is keep asking questions. Sometimes learning and discovering can be purposes in themselves. Have a nice day.
if you ask the monk, he will tell you how to find your way. A priest does the same. We might not know the answer.
You may find my answer somewhat odd, Jireh, but who knows, maybe it will be helpful. Many people, even philosophers are asking this question: what's the purpose of life? From my angle of seeing - this question is not logical, not valid, so now you can start relaxing about it.
You see, our mind is capable of combining concepts into questions that don't make logical sense. For example, I can think of a creature that's half-man-half goat, but that doesn't mean that such a creature exists. There is man, and there is goat, but not man-goat, so putting these two together makes no sense.
Likewise, there is life, and there is purpose, but there is no purpose of life. Another equally non-logical question is: "Where is the end of space, or time?" By our linear thinking, everything has to have an end, but combining it with space, or time, together they make no sense.
I won't bother you by expanding this VERY POPULAR dysfunction of reasoning on many other personal, social, political, even scientific areas. Suffice it to say, that people don't notice their erring logic. Just look at this example, when a woman says to her man : "If you love me, you will do so-and-so". Can you see my point? One has nothing to do with the other, but it still "sounds logical".
Now, about your saying that you are not good for anything. I don't think you are the one who came to that conclusion, without someone in your family telling you that first, and you believed - which might have blocked your incentives to develop any interests. Whether I am right or wrong, stop viewing life through this criterion of "being good at..." If there is that person, possibly a parent who convinced you into it - take a sheet of paper and write down everything that he/she is NOT good at. Do the same for other people of your life.
Simply don't look at your value of a human being through your developed interests or abilities. Just live your life. ONCE WHEN THAT UNCONSCIOUS GRIP LOOSENS DOWN, YOUR POTENTIAL WILL SPONTANEOUSLY UNFOLD INTO WHATEVER IT HAS IN STORE FOR YOU.
Look at yourself as a "little mystery", be curious about your future, love yourself more, love that little baby that you used to be and to whom you owe happiness. So just be happy, smile more, relax. AND FORGET ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE "PURPOSE OF LIFE", THERE IS NO SUCH THING, THE POINT IS TO LIVE IT AND ENJOY IT. - Give yourself more time to figure out what attracts you enough to take that path. - Be well, Jireh
It's a fact that the mystery of existence has spurned on human culture for thousands of years via various religions. All science and art has emanated from religion.
Only in the last generation have a vocal minority tried to change such facts.
Science has from ever been an act of liberation from religion, not originating from it. Thinking man started to challenge that function of brain where "blind beliefs" are formed, and this is more so today than ever before.
Fortunately recorded history and archaeology all clearly show religion created culture and indeed "humankind". We can't change 10,000 years of cultural evolution by false statements and wishful thinking.
Absolutely nothing about history is "clear"; and it is still only his-story, as the top archaeologists and historians are still arguing over what really happened. "Certainty" in history is wishful thinking and intellectual arrogance.

Greetings to all!I am currently beside myself and am in deep reflection. It has come to my attention that my posts contain hatred and intolerance. This troubles me as I have always remained open to someone else's opinions and beliefs. In fact, it uplifts me because I love to learn...

Does life have a purpose? How do we find our purpose in life? How to live a meaningful life? Is lack of meaning in life the same as depression?

The atheists agnostics skeptics apatheists; all while away their lives; finding no purpose in life and no goal in life, their actions become meaningless and their thoughts get frustrated.

Have you ever asked yourself what your purpose in life was? If so, what was the answer? A friend posted an article about this. Basically the article said this was THE most important question to ask. And of course, the answer changes over time. What is the answer for you right now?

How does one know what their purpose in life is? and how do we go about pursuing it, against the odds?

For an atheist, what is the meaning/purpose of man's existence? This question is intended for me to know what really makes an atheist. Maybe, by this question, I can understand more an atheist and see where they are coming.
